New BST Rule Proposals

I feel like things are starting to get out of hand and this may be a way to have less scammers and difficult transactions.

1. To create a sale all members must be members for more than two months. Members could also pay $10 to get their sale approved if member for under two months. Money could be used to improve the site or for a BST moderator.

EX-Members Join on January 1, 2011 can not sell until March 1, 2011 unless paid $10.

2. Threads are ordered by date created, so there is no need to bump a sale every hour. This will also make it easier to see the newest sale, not the most bumped sale.

3. Must have photos with a piece of paper with the member name and date to show proof of possession.

4. Must have a tracking number and give it to the buyer.

Or you could put this in SD.

Paying $10 is kind of a stupid idea IMO.

Not being able to bump threads is bad also.

Not everyone needs a piece of paper with their username and the date in the photos.

Everything is good except for the bumping thing. You're thread won't be seen after a day or two. And tracking number is at buyers discretion if they want to pay or not

The tracking number is a good idea, however when I ship to Canada, the people at my Post Office say that I can't get the tracking number/delivery confirmation, the only thing I can get is signature at delivery and I think that costs buttloads.

There would be just as little ability for anyone to regulate those rules as there is ability to regulate BST now. It's not broke, no need to "fix" it.

Maybe not some of the more respected members, but for the majority of people, I would say it's a good idea. On a forum I used to visit this was a rule and it went fine. Otherwise I could easily pull a picture off google or even an old bst and claim stuff as my own.

Yeah, well I %100 agree that the new members should have that, but members that have say 15+ positive feedback don't need it.

tracking numbers shouldn't be mandatory. i've shipped a few items before without tracking, simply because i was shipping to canada and the difference between a tracking number or no tracking number was about 15 dollars.

It's also why eBay charges ridiculous fees, and NS is free to use. Besides, you can't sell a used hoodie on eBay for more than retail, can you?

For me in canada it costs almost $5 to get a tracking number when shipping to the states. I usually just rely on my feedback.

-First of all, I have quite a bit of experience on the b/s/t forum on newschoolers, with over 80 feedbacks left for me (all positive). And I have never been "scamed" because I use my own good judgement, but I have sent items back for a refund because they wernt close to described.

-Makin changes to seriously regulate the b/s/t forum would require a decent amount of site developement and money.

-The date ordering for bumping purposes wouldnt be a bad idea if the searchbar was better. Id like to have more fine cut results than getting 20 pages worth when i type something in. (like searchbar that lets you choose the forum you want it to only search in)

-2 month rules is pretty stupid, people scam on here after being on here for much longer than that.

-And the $10 rule isnt really practial, because in all this is a "free" site

-For those who are bitching about the writing your username on a piece of paper.....it takes 30 seconds to do.

or just dont be dumb, how bout that? dont deal with noobs, dont deal with people without feedback. dont deal with people who only have a couple posts of feedback and its all good buyer. if you must deal with someone who lacks feedback or is a noob, have a legit member verify them.

now sometimes this doesnt work as there have been several notable scammers who were legit and just decided to turn the coin and be dicks. do what i say in the first paragraph and youll be fine

This isn't even really necessary. I've done plenty of legitimate business with people who have only been here for a short amount of time/people with minimal posts. It's up to you to use your own discretion. If you're at all suspicious, don't send money to a stranger over the internet. Ask for a phone number, someone to vouch for them, feedback, multiple pictures with user ID, etc. If they provide enough reassuring evidence and you still get fucked over, that's life. Not everyone is a good person. Someone who wants something bad enough will fuck you over whether they're a reputable member or not.

-Writing your name on a piece of paper and a timestamp takes all of 10 seconds, its not a big deal. It shouldn't be necessary, but should be highly recommended. Just an added layer of security
-Bumping rule doesn't quite make sense. If organized by date, lots of reposts would occur.
-Tracking numbers are cheap. Even US to Canada are less than $5. Paypal fees for refunds etc are >$7
