New Boots Make My Feet Numb

I know there are some threads on similar issues but I wanted to share my specific experience. Today I rode my new boots for the first time. for reference, I am a size 11 shoe and was in some 29.5s before. My new boots are 26.5. My roommate works at a shop and boot fit me to this boot and they fit around my foot pretty tight but not any uncomfortable pressure points. And the new boots are Salomon S Pro Alpha 130s. About 1 run in and my feet went numb and it was pretty painful. I’d like to think I have a pretty good pain tolerance but man it was unbearable. Especially on the lift. And towards the end of the day it didn’t hurt asss much but I think that’s because my feet were dead numb. When I took my boots off it took about 25 mins to fully regain circulation in my feet. I’ve never had “performance fit” boots before so I havent experienced something like this. Is this a serious issue or does it go away as I break the boots in. Anybody have advice or similar experiences?

I had that too at the beginning of the season (less severe tho) but I bucked them a little looser for a while and after a few days I could buckle them tight with no pain. That’s just my experience

Doesn't sound as severe as your situation but I had some numbness during my first week or so in the RS 130 LV years ago. Unbuckling on the lift and making sure not to tighten them unnecessarily (but still enough for a snug fit) helped me. Having a 26.5 boot for an 11 shoe is definitely towards the aggressive side but some do it. I'm a similar shoe size but wear a 27.5 boot. I'd spend some time in them off hill to see if you can identify where you're losing circulation and give it a few more days on snow to see if you open up room. After that I'd revisit the boot fitter.

The guys in the boot thread can provide some great advice, I'd throw a post in there. I got fitted for newer boots the other month, and the fitter mentioned a stiffer (more aggressive) boot will take more time to break in, generally. I'm about a 10.5/11 and was put in a 27.5 Nordica. Unbuckling on the lift helps, and using a thinner sock has helped me

Id go a few days on the boots and then maybe you can fit in a heat mold inbetween…if it is however really bad, then you can always try for a shell mold…i think a shell mold on my new boots packed out the liners a tad too much, but it makes the boot feel a lot better and I plan to swap out my liners for some others come next season anyways.

Holy smokes everything you just described sounds god awful.. you wrenching down on the buckles or something?

For reference. I wear 11.5 shoes because of wider feet but also wear 26.5 boots…atomic hawx prime XTD 130

I’ve got a similar size foot and I’m in a 27.5 solly boot with intuition liners, 26.5 seems pretty aggressive to me. Do you have a high instep?

I got pretty fucked up feet, so yeah, I know the numbing too well.

First things first, if the foot goes numb in a minute, you have the wrong boot for your foot. Dont bother getting that boot to work, it will never fit.

some pressure point are worse than others.

Sounds like a super aggressive fit.

I’m a 9.5, 10 and wear a 26.5. Sounds like you might need some punches. And try leaving the upper looser. If you cut off too much blood flow you’re done. Numb all day. And typically cold feet too at that point.

What’s a high instep

Def make sure your instep is getting measured when you’re getting fitted, they do it kinda around your ankle starting at the heel.

I had problems for years with my feet going numb, especially on the lift. There is a vein that goes along the top of your foot and if there is too much pressure there you will lose circulation. I got custom intuitions this year and they solved all my problems

Same. Always have issues on the lift if I let the skis hang. If supported I have zero issues.

Damn so the BOA didn’t fix that for you? I thought BOA was going to fix everything

as mentioned on notice if I’m riding the lift and letting the skis hang. Really noticed it on my 194 ghost train. Those skis are just heavy boats
