Netbooks?

I searched and found only one other tread that wasnt very helpful. I'm thinking of getting a netbook and i want to use it specifically for writing papers for school and just checking NS and FB and stuff. Anyone know how they run. I'm not really a computer master but I could tell the guy I asked at best buy was blowing smoke up my ass. Any help is greatly apriciated. thanks
 
The one thing that netbooks really suck at is writing. The first problem is that the keyboard has been shrunk a little bit to fit on the netbook, this means that all the keys are in a slightly different place than normal which makes it a real bitch to type fast. The second problem is the small screen, I don't know about you but I lose my place and train of thought easily if I can't see a whole page, on my netbook I can only see about a third of the screen which makes typing anything longer than a paragraph annoying. Netbooks are good at a lot of stuff but if you want to mainly do typing and writing I would get the cheapest full size laptop I could find instead.
 
They're awesome for traveling and web surfing, but the small screens and keyboards make actual work pretty awkward.
 
i JUST got an inspiron 11z its an actual laptop cause it has a low voltage processor intead of an atom prossecor!!!!!!! just as fast as a full sized laptop! its a mini its as big at the mini 10z its super epic and super nice! i would suggest it to everyone!
 
I have a Lenovo S10 upgraded to 2gigs of RAM and I love it. If I were to replace it I would get the new Lenovo S12. It's got a slightly bigger screen and keyboard and it's also the only netbook with Nvidia's new ION gpu. It's supposed to handle HD playback better and handle graphic intensive programs better.
