Hey everyone, im looking at going to Selkirk college. I was wondering what the night life is like? Ive lived in ottawa my whole life so ive been used to a city so i know nelson will be a change.

Any decent bars or pubs? Dare I say a club?

Also how are the ladies of nelson?...sorry had to ask

chicks are hot

nelson also gets a surprisingly large amount of big name DJ's that come through. Mainly, there's always a tons of dubstep/funky breaks shows (i hate breaks.) There's tons of kick ass pubs, go to Mike's Place or the Royal for drinks, then all the shows normally roll through Spirit Bar. What are you planning on taking at Selkirk?

That sounds pretty decent actually. I was thinking about taking the SROAM program but its not for sure. im also looking at adventure toursim at college of the rockies in Golden BC

just from talking to people there they say its a joke compared to sro, its more in class orientated then sro where for alot of the classes your at a hill doing it right there... also you get two paid coop semesters compared to one with sro, and its in barrie! one of the best city's to party in!

this guy is a fucking joke^ who the hell would want to go to school in shitty ass onterrible rather then in the heart of british columbias best powder skiing? fucking idiot...

as well, the sroam course has some of the most knowledgable teachers ive ever experiened. people come from all over the world to go school for SROAM in nelson, and pretty sure the barrie course uses textbooks written by teachers at selkirk.

nelson nightlife is the tits too by the way. always a party to find till 5 am...

Im a joke eh your pretty big for talking behind you computer, Im just stating my opinion ahahah but ill put the same thing down that I sent in reply to your pm.

How? its easy its a better program and a better job placement percent after you graduate, and don't get me started on how their were 4 people who transferred from sroam to sro my first year so what does that tell me its a shitty program. Its pretty simple sro is better just cause your in the "mountains" in nelson does not make it a better program......just my opinion Im allowed yo have one

yupppp you make false claims all over the place, especially when comparing silver star and big white.

it cant be a better job placement percentage. why? if your in the SROAM program and cant find a work placement, YOU DONT GRADUATE! if your retarded enough not to be able to get a job, the teachers will assist you in finding one quite easily, it is the most recognized course in the country being around for over 30 years and resorts recognize the schooling, YOU WILL GET A JOB FROM THE SROAM PROGRAM.

the people you know that transfered were probably not dedicated to handle the heavy workload, so they got kicked out, or couldnt handle real skiing and had to go back to ontario.

I'm sure the the ontario program has its advantages, but dont slander the longest running resort management program in the world.

I've been teaching the SROAM program since before the Georgian program even existed and can swear that no one has ever transfered from our program to theirs. Don't take my word for it. Call 5 HR managers at major resorts in the west and ask their opinion. I have no doubt they will recommend Selkirk .
