Need some length/binding advice

I am buying my own skis for the first time (without a sales

rep there to guide me in the wrong direction), and I have a couple of questions.

First let me fill you in on my situation

Right now I’m a weekend warrior in MD and I usually go out

west once or twice per year. Next year, I’m going to be going to college in

either VT or NH, so I’m looking at a large increase in snowfall and ski time. I’m

a mediocre park skier at best. Usually inbounds/park ratio is like 65\35. I’m on

the lighter side at 5’10’’ and 135 lbs. My current skis are pretty damn short

for my height, 157cm 2005 chronics.

I’m pretty sure that

I’m going to buy some armada ar6’s but I don’t really know what length I should

get.

Also what bindings would you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance and +k for advice

Hmmm you are almost right in between 171 and 176. Firstly I would ride a 176 and I'm 5'11, 165lbs and advanced/expert level.

Judging by your lighter weight and moderate park ability I would definatly swing for the 171. I find may people will try to sway you towards a longer ski, however, I think a shorter would benifit you as it is easier to flick around especially while learning park.

The arguement the other way being that you said you do more all montain. If you think this will be the continuing trend, i'd go 176 for sure.

+1

On the other hand i'm 5'8 and I just got 174 s4's. I am an expert skier I guess. I depends where you mount them for example I find that when I used ski's mounted at a -2 to -3.5 range a shorter ski felt longer, then I got 167 STL's when I was around 5'5-5'4 or so decided to mount them dead center and they were so easy to control and they pretty much felt like 140's not gonna lie. So bottom line, Considering the fact that you are more into all mountain and will be mounting them around -2 or so I think you'd be fine with 171's but if you find that you are getting into more park if you center mount the 176's you'll find they won't feel to long. But I'd probably have to suggest 171's for you, for all mountain. However, the 174 s4's would be pretty dece and EVOgear has them on for like $293
