I have an opportunity to move to from Minnesota to Nebraska to work on a farm all summer. The pay would be pretty great but the job is very physical for about 10 hours a day. The hours don't bother me too much, my only problem is that I am not sure I want to give up my entire summer. It would be hard for me to leave friends that I only get to see in the summer. Also, I am currently in the process of getting a job at a warehouse about $8.00/Hour. At this point, I have to decide whether I want to make ok money and stay with friends or move to Omaha and make bank, but give up my summer and friends. Also, the girls are pretty hideous looking in Nebraska from what I heard. What would you guys do?

Stay where you are. Doing something you hate will never turn out well in the long run.

Stay in Minnesota. Making a couple extra bucks an hour ain't worth it, if you aren't happy being there.

Hopefully you'll get enough hours at the warehouse to make up for it

I would personally never work on a farm. Plus Nebraska is the summer is incredibly hot and humid. I have a hard enough time driving through Nebraska when I drive from Colorado to Michigan

I wouldn't hate it, it would just be hard work. But I'm almost positive that I will have more fun here. It would just be nice to have some extra money for college next year.

are you kidding, go for the cash. then in a few years, you can come back to your friends in your private jet and take the virginity of all the young women in your minnesota town

Oh damn! haha. But ya stay i'd say stay here in MN. Just get a job working a couple nights a week during the school year next year. Thats what I plan on doing.

By the way, did you ever find a house? Or are you going back to the dorms?

I say you go there. Physical labor for 10 hours/day would make you in great shape. Also, one summer isn't too bad of giving up. You'll meet new people there. And as for the girls, if you're even close to decent looking, they'll want to bang you and also because you're "new in town."

We found an awesome house on Lake Irvine a mile from school for $320 each. I'm pretty excited. But if I decide to go to Nebraska for this summer I'll come up early to party in it. Either way, I need to do something for money quick.

Yea that's a good call. I was thinking it would actually be kinda fun to work my ass off and get in good shape for ski season. Haha but as far as the girls go.. there has to be a few good looking ones near Omaha.

If its that 3 bedroom cabin we almost took that one haha. When are you moving in? I think im going to be up there may 31 through june 2 moving in.

But as for the girls down in nebraska, there has to be quite a few good looking ones. I mean there is a big ass school down there. And Omaha is a pretty big city so there will be some to chose from.

you can find a better paying warehouse job than 8 bucks an hour..

if you're willing to work 50 hour work weeks, i can give you a produce warehouse to apply at for a seasonal job.. 10 bucks an hour and over time. pm me

Haha yup that's it! We're coming up August 1, so we'll have a solid 3 weeks of partying before school starts. I'll for sure hit you up when we move in.

But my roommate went down for a weekend of partying and said he saw no pretty girls at all haha. But it's not too important to me if I'll be working that much. And I'd be staying with relative and her husband is a crazy bastard which will be a lot of fun. I'm getting details soon and considering pretty hard, the money is really hard to pass up though.

first things first...how much money would you be making on the farm vs. how much would you be making at the warehouse? I saw the warehouse was 8/hr...how many hours?

Are your living accommodations taken care of on the farm, or do you have to fork out cash for rent/food/etc? If you're making more money on the farm, but have to spend a bunch of it on a hotel/room and food while you're there, then it's definitely not worth it. However, if it's all taken care of for you, and you have the opportunity to pocket a shitload more money, then I'd jump at the opportunity.

Not quite sure what the hourly wage is on the farm, the ballpark I was given was around $10-13. But all living conditions are supplied so whatever I make is 100% profit, cash (with long shifts). So this opportunity is tough to turn down.

minnesota to nebraska i would like to note that if you look up on google "why is nebraska" the first thing that show up is why is nebraska so boring. its pretty darn boring in nebraska.

Haha fully of aware of this, but there are some pretty fun toys on the farm such as four wheelers and horses. And when that fails...alcohol.

you would need alot of alcohol, how about you just go about 45 min out of the twin cities (assuming thats where you live) and get a job there.

I've been looking around and there are definitely jobs out there but they don't pay nearly as well as the farm will. Most of the stuff I found is a register job besides the warehouse work that I applied for.

would you get a lot more hours on the farm? i dont know that id do it for only 2 bucks more an hour, but i would for 5, ie not at 10/hr but definitely for 13/hr.

Yea I would get tons of hours on the farm, without having to pay taxes because I'd be paid straight cash homie. As well as having free living and food.

Think I'm going to go for it and see how it goes. Worse case scenario is I hate it, give up my summer, and come out with a lot of money. Thanks for the responses. +k
