Need some 360 help, +K

Hey guys, I'm not going to lie and say I can do crazy tricks and crap. I'm a pretty good skier everywhere but park... and I need some help with my 360's. I know I should be search baring and googling it, but it seems like most people just say lead with your head and torso, and you'll get it but I'm having a problem.

I have 180's (kinda of but with those I feel like I just swing my legs around to get it to 180).

When I bring it to 360 I spin, go to 180, sort of stop, (like my torso and head will be leading but my legs/skis lag behind, causing me to stop for a second at 180) and maybe start to spin a bit after that once my legs and skis catch up, so I'll land like between 180-250ish.

Should I try the complete opposite of what everyone says, try to "lead" with my skis? I've also thought about doing the spin but tucking my legs up and grabbing my knees, sort of "pulling" them through and along with me. Should I also try sort of digging in my edges (spread my feet apart) when going off the jump to be "pushing off" and spinning from the ground up?

Honestly I need some advice, +K to responses.

Thanks for the help guys, sorry for the reposting but I'll delete it once I get a few good responses helping me.

Thanks again! :) and to make you guys hate me less.....

sold with the animals. pop off the lip is key. pop then use your arms to swing when you first get started. its just like doing it off the ground. pop and throw. throwing w/o pop is risky biscuits and will likely lead to frowny faces.

Haha thanks.

But when I do that my legs sort of "lag" behind me stoping me for a second when I get around to 180, then I continue to spin but don't make it quite to 270 ride out ability. (Only doing it on a 10ishfooter, but I want to get the rotation down first before taking it much bigger).Anytips to stop the legs from "falling behind" making me stop?

To help that "lag", do them flat on a box/the snow to build the awareness of doing the full 360 while keeping your body in one place, and something that will help overall, YouTube "how to do a 360" and click the one by ski addiction, it's absolutely fantastic and is how I learned them.

remember to sent the spin with your hips too. If you just set the spin with your upper body your lower body will be slower to catch up. Set with both hips and upper body, spot your landing and you will land.

when you jump off the lip try and bite your shoulder, and keep looking till you see your landing and then open your body up to slow down the rotation, if you lead with your hips and shoulders then your skis and rest of the body will come around, winding up with your arms makes you look like an idiot and only really turns your torso around, so just keep looking over your shoulder and lead with your shoulders/hips and it'll come right around

i had a similar problem, i didnt spin enough and when i did i was landing backseat. what helped me was poping evenly, making sure your arms were swinging and up, aswell as poping and then spining, then spot the landing and you should be gucci.

While you are on flat ground going very slowly, try and just jump and spin as far as possible. Try and get to about 270 and slide around to 360. It will help break the habit of stopping at 180. That helped my friend who had the same problem

I don't think you can delete your own thread but....

just kind of set your edge as you are going off the jump and wind up with your arms. It is pretty much the same thing as if you would do a 3 on flat ground with shoes on

For threes, put the arm opposite which way you're spinning out to the side, and parallel to the ground. When you come off the lip, throw your spin with that arm, or in other words, bring it closer to you. Know that the faster you bring that arm in and the closer you hold it to your body will play a major roll in the speed of your rotation, so keep that in consideration. When you're in the air, look over your shoulder until you see your landing. Some people prefer to look for the horizon, but that only really helps when you're doing more than one rotation. Once you spot your landing, get your head and shoulders pointing straight at it, and if needed, put your arms and legs out to stop your rotation.

In short, set with your opposite arm, don't start to spin until you're in the air, keep on axis by keeping your head level, make sure your shoulders are open the whole spin, and spot your landing. Good luck!

i guess the key is using your hips to turn instead of doing that stupid arm swings? i was trying 3s today and had same troubles as OP. I can do 180s easy because all you have to do is just turn the hips in the air but when i tried 360s, i would turn like 270 ~ 300 and stop, and that's with huge arm swings.

thinking back, i don't think i was using my hips to turn at all.

I had the same problem. But the key is is to pop of the jump and immediatly look over your shoulder, when you feel yourself coming to about 270 look down at the landing. It is all about commitment. If you look at the groung that is where you will land at that time.

When you're thinking about the pop, dong think about ollying off the jump or using your tails or anything. Just jump how you would on flat ground right as you're leaving the lip. Throw it exactly how you would if you were standing on the street with no skis on, just the second you're leaving the jump and it should come around.

The actual spin isnt too hard once you get a feel for it. You have to keep your head turned until you see the landing and even pop is key. Try them off little jumps, like bumps in the trail, to get the feel for going past 180 and then give it a shot on a real jump.

I still don't understand why I was having such trouble doing a simple 360. I see other kids doing them and they were so effortless. Yet, when I try I can barely spin 300 degrees haha
