Need Info From Telluride People

For those of you who are from or go to Telluride a lot-

What are the rules on the free gondola? Could I get on with my skis and then hike over to another lift and ski for free? (Like at Highlands where they let you hike halfway up to a midway lift and then ski for free?)

if you have a full set of ski equipment and you take the free gondola up they check your pass at the top. so thats prolly not gonna fly.
