so i might be doing a 4 day camp on the christmas break at my job. its an aquatic camp and i might have either 4-7 year olds or 8-12 year olds for the camp (theres two different ones running). i need some ideas for both if you know any...specifically crafts. i have a couple like those fortune tellers, paper airplane competition, paper plate owls, magazine collages...but i need more. and also i need a good list of games and stuff. i have the stuff for the water covered, but i need games on land like tag but good games...sooooo any ideas?!?!

three legged race (where 2 people tie one of their legs together and race other people like that)

the quiet game where none of them can talk. umm hide and seek and dont go looking for them. the locking them in the closet game see how long they can go til they wet their pants. games like that.

here is a really fun game i learned over the summer, idk if you have the room inside for it, but i'll try and explain

get a water noodle, cut it in half, have like 3-4 of the 1/2 noodles

everyone stands in a circle, the noodles will be on the ground in the middle of the circle, one person who is "it" takes the noodle, and hits someone in the circle at the knee or lower

after tagging someone, the person who is it runs to the middle of the circle, the person who got tagged will follow them to the middle.

"it" will have to hit the ground and then their face 5 times with the noodle then they throw the noodle somewhere else in the circle, the person who got tagged will have to get the noodle and hit the person that was "it" before "it" gets back to the other persons spot in the circle.

you can have multipul "it"s just add more than one noodle.

a good progression is to just start with one, then throw in more as the game goes on. just saying first one to grab the new noodle will be it.

it's pretty fast paced and a lot of fun since you get to watch kids wack them selves in the face. -- remeber a stratagy is when you are waiting to get the person who is it, try to position yourself so you can easily grab the noodle when they throw it.

and make sure the person who is it goes toward the middle of the circle before begining wacking them selves in the face.

lots and lots of fun

i've got the perfect card game for little kids it goes like this....

Each group is given a deck of cards with the jokers removed. Each person in the group must complete two trials of the following task. With one person timing the participant must whole the shuffled deck face down, and flip cards up one at a time sorting them into groups (1's, 2's, 3's, and 4's together, 5's and 6's together, 7's and 8's together, 9's and 10's together, and a separate pile for each face card including aces). Once the cards are completely sorted the timer stops the watch, and the time is recorded. This trial is completed 2 times by everyone in the group, and the pre trial scores are posted on the board. The class is then divided into 2 groups, the whole practice group and the part practice group. The part practice must break the practicing down into parts according to the sheet. First each member must be timed while sorting the cards into face cards and non face cards. Following that, each member will be timed sorting the cards into face cards, non face cards, and aces. Finally each member of the group will be timed sorting the cards into a pile for 1's 2's 3's 4's 5's 6's, a pile for 7's 8's 9's 10's, a pile for face cards, and a pile for aces. These 3 separate trials are then repeated for a total of 6 practice trials. All results are recorded. While the part practice group is doing there trials, the whole practice group is doing 6 trials of the original process. Separating the cards in the same way in which they were separated in the pretrial. After six trials are done, all results should be recorded. A day later, we do the post trials. Getting into small groups, everyone will do 2 more trials in the same way that they did the original pre trials. Each trial will be timed and recorded. The results are then posted on the board for comparison. Each participant must find the mean of their pre trials, their post trials, their first 3 body trials, and their second 3 body trials, as well as the difference between their pre and post trials. The results are put on the board in accordance with the group each person was in. Finally the mean of each column on the board is calculated to compare the average results.

its a 4 day camp...thats actually a dope idea. like have time each day to work on it and smash the crap out of it on the last day.

thanks guys im actually impressed with some of the ideas i got. any more?

I work at a preschool and 4-7 year olds wont make it through that game. Just make sure what ever you pick isnt to complicated or will take to long, you wouldnt believe the attention span of a four year old, its seriously like 5 minutes, so your gunna want to have ALOT of stuff. Make sure you ahve things like coloring books, balls, and puzzles and stuff. And make sure you have a reward like stickers or candy. Cause kids that little wont clean up or sit still or listen for shit unless you tell them that they will get rewarded for it.

yea but i have a power. its an aquatic camp so if theyre bad i just wont take them swimming for the morning. i did it in the summer and it worked good. stickers n shit work well too

Yea one more trick for keeping them inline with the small ones, if you ask them to do something and they dont do it, start counting in a stern voice. You dont even have to say what your counting to, they just know when you stop there fucked. Its crazy how much of a difference just little things can make with them, ill emphasize stickers again, just for when you notice they doing something good hook them up with a sticker. It makes a huge difference in their attitude.
