Hey M&A, i am the photographer and filmer for my schools skateboard team. I got pictures under control, but this is my first skate edit. My coach wants me to make an end of the season edit. I have never made a skate edit and i havent really watched too many either.

-So i need ideas on how to film

-what to film

-and what makes one skate edit better than another?

any advice on the filming and editing would be greatly appreciated. +k for help

First of all, I am not a fan of the low angle fisheye follow cams. I think it looks very amateur. It depends on what look you want though and its your edit so do what you think looks best. In regards to this, treat it as any other type of filming. Composition and exposure/colours are key. I also enjoy hearing audio of the footage in edits. Lastly make sure your cuts and shots flow with the music. A mix of slowmo and regular speed is what I think and from what I here is what others think looks best around here. Be creative man.

Here's one of my favourite edits. I know it is professionally done but will give you some ideas for shots.

I would rarely use slow mo. I Don't usually like slow mo in skate edits, unless its a baaanger. Change up angles and just mess around with them a bit to see what you like. IF you have a fisheye don't overuse it.

Here are two examples of different style skate edits.

This one is a little more artsy than most skate edits..

and this is the more "classic" edit if you will..

if you want to make sick skate edits, buy a vx2100 buy a century optics mark 1, follow cam and never take the fisheye off, make orange colors and make the description an anti-hd post.
