Need help with choosing skis

Hey everyone,

So I am having a hard time deciding what skis to get. I am 5’11 160 and I am a very good all mountain skier (I’ve done a good amount of double black extremes in the Rocky’s) and I am trying to transition to park some. I ski mainly in the East Coast but I make a trip out the Rocky’s at least once a year (which is why this is difficult). So far I’ve narrowed it down to the Bent 100, ARV 96, Revolt 95, Prodigy 2.0 and am open to any other suggestions. I just don’t want the ski to be bad in these East Coast conditions but I also want it to be decent if there’s crazy pow when I go out West.

ON3P Jeffery 102. Mount it at recommended (which isnt true center), it won't blow up on you like a Bent or ARV will, but it will also give you the same type of all around performance you're looking for. I rode them in the midwest in the park for years and they handled it beautifully. If you want a ski thats more park oriented than all mountain, the Mango 100 is more symmetrical and feels incredible in the park. I would choose the Jeffery though if you plan to do more than half all mountain type skiing.

I second this. ON3P's cost an arm and a leg but will last you MUCH longer in the long run than some of the other skis mentioned

I also second this, all my on3ps have been tough as hell, sick skis! on3p support a dope ass company

Compared to the ARV’s how are the soul riders?

never rode the ARV's, soul riders are probably better quality though. Maybe not as bombproof and def not as rockered as the on3p's but I knew this thread was gonna be the same regurgitated response and the soul riders are something different.

Yea true, appreciate the response though it’s definitely on my radar now, the ON3P’s are too much for the college budget rn lmao

Not disputing the quality but from my experience there's no existing bombproof ski that stands completely above the rest and holds up to prolonged rail abuse. On3ps will last longer than a lot of other park skis but they'll get edge cracks like any other ski. It comes down to whether or not u think the price is worth it, and for a lot of people it's not.

I've only ever skied arv 96s so I can't really make comparisons. I think the Bent 100s sound like the best option for what you're describing

This. Absolutely love my Jeffrey 102s. Can’t recommend them enough for what you’re describing. Super stable, chargy, fun all around ski. Do whatcha gotta do.

What type of ski do you like and how do you ski? You like to ski dynamic and slash and pop everywhere or do you like to just blow through everything? Because I could recommend two different skis on that alone. Then you get into characteristics of the park. As for me, I like a more playful middle of the road flex ski like liberty antigen or line chronic or fauna Omni. Personal preference will play a part in your decision.

Also, if you want ON3P buy used off snow.share on Instagram or watch ON3p for factory finds when they drop. They aren’t always $800. You can usually find them for around factory finds/blems for around $500 in May.

Not answering the question asked, but does anyone know when do faction skis usually become available for the new season?

I would expect early to late November they will be in shops

189 keys are great for the double black diamonds

you fucking nerds, this guy doesn't want or need $700+ ON3Ps or your lame ass inside joke about vishnus

OP, the options you listed plus the bent 100 would be great options for you. see which one seems better for your preferences and style of skiing or just what you can find cheaper. perfect size/shape skis for mostly east coast with some west coast here and there

Bent 100's and ARV's will last him about as long as his first time with a woman

naw man he's a general skier and said he's thinking about trying some park. those skis will absolutely be a great fit for him (durability included). going more specialized wouldn't help him (and almost certainly wouldn't help his wallet)

My on3ps blew up in 2 months but i think I was just unlucky. My armadas have 2 seasons (100+ days) with lots of rails and they dont even have an edge crack yet

if you wanna ride park, just getting cheapest twigs possible. they get fucked hitting boxes and rails. invest in good bindings tho.

I’ve had a pair of armadas in the past that were absolutely bulletproof

Facts bents are ass I bought a pair of 120 underfoot last year the quality isn’t there they fell the fuck apart fast. I’ve always had pretty good luck with Armadas so I guess the arv?‍♀️

After the Amer merger, I'm pretty sure it's all the same shit. I think Armada's quality really fell off in the last number of years. Everyone will have different results and I'm glad you're having good luck with yours, that's really all that matters haha

I've heard the same thing about Armada actually. I had pair of arva 96s back in 2017 and I loved them. Held up pretty well too. It's hard to tell if they really have declined in quality cuz I can only go off anecdotal evidence but I wouldn't be surprised. Seems to be the trend these days

In fairness, my bulletproof armadas were from 2017 so could have slid due to Amer. And now Amer is owned by a Chinese company so maybe production has slid more.

It's stuff like that which makes me recommend ON3P. No one can ever say they make a bad product and I know that's never going to change so it's easy to recommend. Yeah they cost some money but skis are all expensive these days and to me, that's the price of quality. Supply chain shortages, inflation and covid I'm sure did a number on them but I'm super glad they're still here. Skiing needs companies like ON3P, Vishnu, Surface, etc. and I want to help support that vs another kid buying another set of lines or Armada's. Those companies will always find a way to sell skis, they don't need us persay

I usually pop and slash places now- the only time I’m really charging hard is when I’m pushing it through some technical stuff. I’ve heard good things about the chronic but I also heard it can be a little too loose for all mountain compared to stuff like the ARV

I didn’t discourage him against ON3P. I gave him options for buying ON3P. I buy Indy companies myself and try to support them. I was just pointing out, along with the other guy, that it can’t always be a broad statement. Also, price to entry is a real thing for many kids on this website. It’s not lost on me.

Im a fan of ON3P but I realize that they’re simply out of grasp for some consumers

Yes the chronic is a park ski that happens to ski all mountain. Would not suggest if if you’re mostly skiing-skiing

How I switched, was riding skis like the atris, Nordica helldorados and doing just all mountain

now I got the Jeff’s and I love them.

DO NOT get the chronic. Great ski and super fun to ride, definitely is great on all mountain, but only if you can afford buying a new pair every season. My buddy bought his brand new in december, and what was left of the topsheet by january was a completely peeled off topsheet with rest of the ski absolutely clapped. LINE is notorious for having skis that do not last
