Need help with boxes

Overview: I cant do a 20ft box but I keep falling different ways.

Details:

Yesterday was my first day skiing, and I was having trouble with a box maybe 20ft. The thing is I don't know what I was doing wrong. The first time I had it alright, but maybe set a spin(?) And was forced to come out switch. The second and third time I fell backwards and fourth and fifth time I fell forwards. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You have to grip the box with the inside edge of your leading foot when you hit rails/boxes. That always helps me out. Plus it helps you and gets you set for spinning out.

Yeah its sometimes hard to come out forwards at first. I find it helps to dig the inside edge of your leading ski in to keep yourself from slowing turning around on the box. Also, look at the end of the box and keep looking forward throughout your landing. Your body goes where your head goes.

most people are going to say grip the box, but if that's not working out for you try this.

when you approach the box focus on keeping your upper body and shoulders not setting a rotation, get the legs and skis to just do that 90 degree turn but don't go throwing a spin. where your shoulders are pointed have a lot to do with where your headed. Also always look at the end of the box not at your skis.

I have some similar trouble too in that I sometimes naturally grind the rail and come out switch without even meaning to.
The solution to this (hypothetically, I still don't have it full down), keep your head looking directly at the end of the rail / box, and yeah, like other people have said, grind up the inside edge of your leading ski to stop you turning a big
As far as the falling forwards and backwards part, just gotta keep your shoulders above your feet.
Also, something that really helped me learn rails, when you come up to a rail (assuming its not a rail you hop onto from the side), approach the rail and have it perfectly centered between your skis (slightly wider stance when you hop on the rail), but yeah, the rail perfectly in front of you between ur legs. then hop on and turn 90'
Maybe that was confusing but hopefuly it helpedall.mountain

its important that you focus on the inside edge of your leading foot but that is too vague. you need to focus on using heel pressure of that front foot to keep from going switch and this will also set you up for a front 2 out.

This.

And you might not be bending your knees enough. My problem used to be that I would stand straight up without even bending my knees at all. I'd always be way of balance. Once I started bending my knees more, I did a lot better.

I think his meter is fine, honestly. It sounds like some legit advice to me.

I mean think about it. If you go to slow, you'll get off balance. If you go to fast and you don't know what your doing, bad things happen.

But you called out someone on their meter being broken on someone giving advice. Whatever... my meter must be broken too. Haha.

No, man, I called meter on somebody who replied seriously to me on a sarcastic comment. At least I'm pretty sure I did.

haha nice name, steeze takes more than a day to learn. just keep trying it, watch people on the mountain do it and ask for help there. youll learn a lot more than from a forum.
