Hey Everyone, I am stuck and need some help looking for my next ski. I am 6'1'' currently weighing 220lbs skiing the northeast and am looking for a good all mountain/park ski. I am a former racer and I am currently riding on some 06 atomic tweaks (not center mounted). Also, I am not looking to spend a fortune on a new pair, ~$400. Any help would be appreciated. Plus karma to those that can help!
thanks guys

for something of an all mountain/park ski, id suggest something on the stiffer side, because ur not gunna want a noodley ski when ur bombing down groomers. Do you want something on the wider side? Check out the volkl bridge 92 at the waist, a little on the stiffer side, great all mount ski, and u can def use it in the park. Its not on the cheaper side tho something like 629$ try and find last years if u can, same ski different graphic

umm look for line chronics if you can find them for a good price (my favorite ski ever) and if you want you could get a k2 extreme or a modle like that.

k2 extremes are sooooo noodley, if hes an ex racer, i wouldnt suggest that for much of all mountain

reallyy, i looked at them at the shop and they seamed semi stiff, but ive never skied them so i guess i wouldnt no.

the k2 extreme is based off of the old public enemy. its a fairly stiff ski, and just because you work at a shop and fool around with skis all the time that doesnt mean you know everything about the skis. maybe look at the k2 site and see what the actual company says about the ski. pretty sure they say that it is a stiffer flex.

Ya, i def want something on the stiffer side with a narrower waist. What do you think about the 08 volkl walls? I can get these with bindings for under 500

Im a huge K2 fan. I ride the 08-09 kung fujas and absolutely dig them! They are soft though. I really enjoyed my 4FRT MSP's 187 for a stiffer ski. They were strong and stable. I think you should look into those. No one seems to rock the 4FRT's anymore, I liked them!

well the graphics are cool ha. im not sure i wanna rock a 187 right now. im looking around the 180 +/- 4.
from a quick read they seem pretty cool

never said i knew everything about the skis, but compared to the other twins we have here, and over the past years ive worked here, they felt soft, no need to get an attitude....i also have spoke with the K2 rep recently about a week ago, and i talked to him about the ski, so i think talking to an actual rep, and being around the ski about 5 days a week, i think i know a little more than what the website tells me.

i've skied on the 06/07 public enemies for the last 2 and a half seasons and loved them. although i don't really know how much or what they have changed between them and this years extremes, i've found them a great all-round ski that is really good in crud and can hold it's own on groomers, not to mention a super solid and durable park ski. the one down side (if you consider it a problem) with k2s are they are relatively heavy, but that seems to make them more stable. definately would recommend the extremes to you if they are anything like my public enemies.

walls have an 87 waist, certainly not narrow, check out the volkl ledges, cheaper, still on the stiffer side, and have an 84 waist, so its slightly narrower, how narrow do u wanna go?

I think ive decided what i want to do. Im going to go with the '09 volkl 177 walls.
now im looking at the rossi axial 2 140 ti pro wb bindings. the brake is 100mm and the ski is 87mm... will this be ok? or is that too much gap?

Ok first of you are picking a park specific symmetrical ski. Not saying they are bad skis but unless your doing mostly park i dont think they are what you want. If you want more all mountain performance look at something like the volkl bridge or the Extreme please dont listen to the guy who says they are a soft ski because they are NOT. And with you size and weight consider picking a bigger ski 177 will be tiny for you especially center mounted (if you get the walls). try looking for some skis in the 180 range. just some ideas to help you out

So i could spend a lot more time looking into this but i decided to just decide on a pair already.
i ended up buying 08 atomic 182 punx with '10 rossi fks 120 bindings
ill post up pics when i get everything in!
