Need help iphone trouble

Ok so I bought on an old iphone off my friend because he got a new one. Only thing is the screen was broken. Not the display just the glass digitizer. So I bought a new one and replaced it and got everything all hooked back up again but now only half of the screen will read my touch.

Does anyone know why this might have happened or has this happened to anyone before?

Any help much appreciated !!

 
It probably got installed wrong or the screen wasn't the only thing originally broken. I mean you just put a new screen in and now it's not working. What do you think is wrong with it?

 
Well I followed all the steps correctly to take it out and put it back in and the thing is since half the screen works still and reads the touch I was just wondering if there was something that anyone knew about that makes this happen.
