I live in the east coast (NY to be specific). Looking for something that's 50park and 50all-mountain. maybe a little more park. I just want something to be poppy, spin easy, take a beating on rails (cause i'm not that great and ill be falling haha), and be able to carve well. I'm 6'2", 155lbs. Please let me know when you suggest something if you've actually ridden it

line anthems or chronics,, when you post a thread like this make sure to put in a price range what companys you like and stuff that would help the responder to get somthing that you like most.

pretty much any company is fine with me. i don't really want to spend much more than 400. im kinda looking in the 300 or less range, so im down with buying skis that are a couple years old
and Embraced: what size, year, condition?

the two best $400 skis (2010s) are Surface Nine Lifes and Line Anthems. But, If you can find some 09 Armada AR6s they are SICK in and out of the park.

Last years K2 Extreme. They are exactly what you described and they are an damn fine ski, plus you can get last years for under 400 easy.

yeah, i've checked out the anthems before as an option. but when i asked my brother who lives out in utah hucking cliffs, he said theyre too much of a park ski. granted he and i are skiing completely different conditions and styles. how do the anthems perform just carving around the mountain? cause where i ski, the park is very small and crowded so im gonna be spending quite a bit of my time just douching around on groomers.

well its stiffer than the anthems and the extremes by far so its not gonna just wash out on you,, but its soft enough to play around with.

i personally dont i have the chronics (pretty stiff but spendy),, ive got a buddy that has them and i rode them once. They are super fun to just ride around with and care around. If i had to get another pair of skis thats what it would be.

I ski a symmetrical ski in NJ all over the mountain and have no problem carving and whatnot.

But you know what I've often considered, getting a pair of Line Elizabeths just to screw around on. They look super fun and it looks like I would have a good time on the mountain with those. Plus, The widest ski I've ever used are my disorderliy's at 85mm, so it would be nice to experience something different.

elizabeths are double his spending price,, sorry to put you down but it probably wouldnt be a good option for what he skis..

ah. yeah i thought about getting the 07-08 chronics, but a friend of mine who competes in the park said that the butter zone is too thin and they'd break easy. although i'm pretty sure he demoed the 08-09 chronics. what year do you have?

i actually have the 07/08 chronic blends so there a little softer than the regular chronic but for just playing around it just isnt the funnes ski,,

I have 07-08 chronics, the orange ones. Definitely a fine ski for 50/50 park and mountain. They have butter zones? I'd say they're rather stiff, but i'm 119lbs and 5'4'' so that's expected. It's poppy too, going over rollers you can feel the tails waiting to rebound and launch you. Such a cool feeling. These are going for 250 on untracked, and i'm riding 166cms. I don't do many rails, I like jumps, but people have said they are very durable when it comes to rails.

Yeah the chronics are one of the poppiest skis ever i think haha, definitly made for jumps thats why there stiff so you dont wash out on landings

the chronics being stiff would definitely benefit for landings, and if they're pretty poppy from what i've heard, what makes the anthems better?

they have butter zones and they have more flex.

if you aren't planning on huge jumps afterbangs are nice and they are 350.really flexy and i have heard they are awesome to jib with.

ah i see. yeah i wont be planning on hitting huge jumps. but i heard the afterbangs are pretty much just a park ski. i need something stable and good at carving.

afterbangs sound like a terrible idea in general. they have NO sidewalls at all! how would they ever hold an edge on ice out here in the east? and this kid is like 6'2'', while the longest afterbang made is what, a 177? just a little on the short side... besides, they look way too flimsy to do anything other than rails. i'm not liking how the afterbang sounds. now the chronics on the other hand, they seem more realistic. there 85 mm underfoot with sidewalls, but on the stiffer side. they will be much more forgiving to him while hes getting into skiing this year

i like the sound of the afterbang and the chronic. im trying to decide what one to get. i also dont ski huge skis.afterbangs sound like awesome jib skis to me but chronics are a bit lighter only thing you cant do on the chronic is butter.

go with surface nine lives or armada ar6s. the flex is right inbetween the afterbang and anthem, and the quality is way better. just pm flashkick101. he knows his shit to the max and is really nice
