Need for playstation, x box... freestyle ski game

I think I speak for everyone on newschoolers when I say we want a ski game instead of playing amped and pretending our board is a pair of skis. I would like to see the pro`s making moves with EA or something to creat a game made by skiers for skiers( not like ssx) If any of the big pros read this leave a comment I want your oppinion or reasons not to make a move. it would be cool if this thread was sticky because this is super important for our skiing culture and for skiing to expand its limits.
 
I dont think there is a realistic market for a ski-only game.

Amped 2 with skis would be the sickest game ever made.

when i was playing AMPED 3 like when it was loading the screen would always say some random shit but once it said "Skiing in AMPED 4?" and i was like, hell yeah that would be sick! but i dont see an AMPED 4 yet..
 
but amped 3 turned the amped series to shit... its now super unrealistic which is pretty gay! but that would be fucking sick
 
i heard rumors they were making another one but im pretty sure their company (indie built or something like that) closed down. although people said a couple guys from that company were gonna try and do another one with a new company. i think ea should do it though, the skate engine would kill. i have to say i havent played amped two so i dont know how that is.
 
it's not going to happen. there are going to be a bunch of shitty games that have the average kid as the targeted audience but a real skiing game won't happen for a long time. it would be pointless for a video game company to make a ski game actually because normal kids would just think it's lame.
 
yea there porbably will be a good ski game soon but only when someone like jon olsson retires or something
 
exactly and i think if anyone does it it will be jon. i think if it ever does happen it wil be ski and board, it only makes sense.
 
well i really in joy the amped games, have not played much in a really long time though. but i was thinking a skate like thing. where on the flick it controls you could control where you grabbed and how you would tweak it, whatever. now if a company made a game like that i would buy it in a instant.
 
I would love a sick ski game, but the truth is, I can get by with jibberish. And I also owned ssx4, and despite the pulling a ski off and the incredible spinning speed, it was so easy to do styly runs and have a good time with that.

All you had to do was choose a ski with slow spinning stats, and then freeride. You could do rodeos, misties, and if you played with the joysticks, corks. They had a bunch of legit grabs, (mute, true tail, toxic, truck) and it was fairly realistic if you wanted to play it that way.
 
it does work but the corks look horrible... that game has nothing to do with freestyle skiing, its an arcade game is all it is. When the skier rides switch i just want to puke. we need a game by skiers for skier im sure the demand is there.... think about it, how many people at their mountain have as many if not more skiers.... in quebec its pretty much the case so i do think that the demand is there.
 
jea ssx on tour is pretty fun if you make the skis "mid-range" or "low-end", turn off boost, then its really steezy and more realistic
 
^caps bud. But yeah i could easily see EA making big profits on a ski game that has the skate engines in it. that would be sooo sick.

the reason ssx's and the amped games sell is because average kids think its cool shit to snowboard and they probably have never even done it.

this is why shit like tony hawks sells, but BMX and inline skate games no longer exist
 
It would be nice to see a ski game like this, but it won't happen. Theres no market for it, everyone thinks skiing is lame, we know its not but everyone else doesn't even know what park skiing is. It won't happen probably ever.
 
i know! a Dave Mirra 3 would be sick if they made it these days.....(BMX XXX does not count for dave mirra 3)
 
seeing threads just make me even sadder than we don't have a good ski game for any of the systems ...
 
Thing is though, there releasing a japanese ski game in the states where the basis is racing, and then going off huge cliffs and doing daffies and backflips. If they think that game can sell well, I would expect that a freestyle ski game would do wonders. Expecially since I would expect our sport has atleast some general knowledge through x games.
 
There will be like 2 people who buy that game. Those people have set skiing back, not forward
 
^^ yeah, but that game is on wii, and the only reason I could see it selling is because you use the controllers as poles and it could be fun because for non-skiers they'd think it's like skiing while staying comfortably at your home.. whatever

but a snowboard/ski game with a realistic engine would be a good idea. The snowboard side would make it sell to all the average kids, and the ski part would make it nice for all the skiers
 
my cousing got freakout freeride extreme for his psp. its made in the uk so he had to get it off ebay but its pretty fun. backcountry with jumps, cliffs and trees for rails.
 
that was a good movie/ video game movie. but i think i like jberish game / clothing company more. they make cool clothes and a cool game. what more do you need?
 
Have any of you played ssx blur on the wii?

I definately think its the closest and most realistic a game has come to skiing, the switch is legit, skis very realistically, and does butters and even pretzles and kangs!

If you ignore the points, the competitions, and the "Uber" tricks, you can get some sick runs and I think its the closest we're gunna get without a pro collaboration etc.

Try it out, I think its the most under-rated game its soo much fun.

It's my happy game I play it when I'm depressed I'm not out skiing when there's still 10 feet of snow on the mountains but they're CLOSED!! I would poach but I don't have a car...or can't drive even if I had one..but anyways sorry for the rant but I get really excited about the game.

Try it out, and go get some virtual pow runs in before the real thing starts

I've been just thinking about this when i'm bored in class or whenever, but it would be sweet if they had pros in it, and you can get sponsored and maked movies like lots of the skating games. I personnaly would be willing to pay like $80 for a real skiing game on a console with that stuff, it would be tight.
 
As sick as it would be, EA wouldn't get shit from a ski game, wouldn't put shit in a ski game, and probably thinks shit of skiing. A skiing game from a big producer would be my summer...but it's not gonna happen and wouldn't sell.
 
yeah freakout extrerme freeride for pc is the best your gonna get at the moment, its fun as hell and has pretty good graphics but needs better gameplay (amped 2 stylz) and more variey in grabs
 
if it is made well people will definitly buy it

its not like the only market for a freeride game is freeride skiers
