Need an advice about Gopro Hero 4

Ok, so let's say that I can get the Hero 4 silver edition and the Hero 4 black edition for the same price, which one should I get? Yes I know the black one has better quality and 4k, but who need 4k? The silver edition has an integrated screen.... I want the black one because of the 1080p 120fps, but also the Silver for the integrated screen...

Is there someone here who has tried the two ones, edited both footage, etc.... and could give me an advice?

Thanks, that would be much appreciated !

The footage (apart from the 120fps of the black) will edit the exact same assuming you have the same settings on each. I have shot with both but now stick with the silver only because i use it a a secondary camera and the screen is essential for framing shots. If you're shooting POV this is irrelevant.

Be sure to use Protune to give a flatter color profile and you can actually get away with some grading. You shouldn't rely on the gopro's little screen to review footage, its just there for settings convenience and *roughly* getting your shots more accurate.

Hope this helps

Thanks +k,

How's the battery? Does it lasts longer on the silver or on the black?

Btw a battery is only 20$ haha

I'd imagine it'd last longer on the black due to not having a screen.

Also if they were the same price I'd get the 4 black ( like you said, 1080 120.) Also you can always frame your shot first with the app and your phone but i mean it's a fisheye, you'll get everything). Also 4k not's necessary but it's cool to have that cropability and be able to make it sharp as shit by downscaling. (also possible to buy a screen separately if you decide you really want one)

Or if you really want the silver... for some reason buy the black anyways and then sell it to get the silver with some money left over

The battery is actually about the same, depending on how much you use the screen. The black has essentially a 2x faster processor, which will destroy the battery especially if you're filming at very high fps or 4k.

But as you said, the cost of an extra battery is pretty negligible.

Thanks guys, I'll buy the Hero 4 black this week, currently upgrading from the Hero 1 960p as a POV camera haha
