So I just started school here and am looking for a board to get around campus. I don't know very much about long boards, so any help is appreciated. I would like it to be under 34 inches I think so I can bring it to class not have to carry around a huge board. For the short time Ive been looking Ive found the

-arbor bug

-arbor hybrid

-rayne timeline

-earthwing miniglider

Are any of these boards even close to what I'm looking for?

When I was a freshman I got a Sector 9 bomb hills board. It worked out really well. I never had a problem going to class with it. If it was a smaller class i'd just leave it by the door or hang it from the coat hangers. After class I'd just get on a bus and be on my way, fuck going uphill.

just buy a used one off some kid, thats what i did my freshman year and i still use it, its way cheaper also

Oh look it finally works. I tried to put my own picture in, but it wasnt working, so I started grabbing random ones from Icon threads, and this was the last one I tried I guess

I dont have a skateboard so if I'm going to spend some money anyways I might as well get something closer to what Im looking for, but thanks

i have an arbor bug, perfect for getting around campus, has a kicktail for olleing curbs and shit and fits nicely under a chair. not so good for bigger hills but its really just a transportation device, and works well as one.

check out tunnel skateboards. i have a baldy pipeline that does transportation just as well as bigger boards and it's small enough to carry if i need. also it tears up pools.

well i dont know how to skate, if i bought a skateboard and some kids like yo bust an ollie id have to be like uh i dont know how. then id start crying and run away

fuck the haters, you'll love yourself when you get to the point where you consistently ollie. Just stick with it and it'll reward you.

BC moray, i think its 36" though...but so so worth it

I'm selling a drop through rayne killswitch. Regular verson.

PM if you're interested. 7.5/10 shape no cracks, nothing.

It's lower so you can get around campus and if you get into longboarding its a pretty all around board

I have the gravity "diamonds in the rough" board for getting around camps at UVM. Its small enough that I canI bring it to every class without problems and it holds up really well on the hills around town. It has a really good/ responsive flex to it. And the kick tail makes it so easy to pop it up to your hands at any time or go over a curb.

Its a little bigger than you said you were into but they make similar style boards in a few different sizes.

I hate people like you. The funny thing is, you probably suck at skating, but think you're cool cause you're rocking your sister's jeans and walking around campus with an expensive new deck. The guy said he wanted a longboard, not a skateboard, so kindly gtfo.

oh word. but no joke a regular skateboard is much better for the U. i have a DH landyacthz and it was fun. broke my truck and didnt have the $ to get new ones so i just started crusing to class/all over the U/all over the aves and city on a skateboard. it is seriously so much funner than a longboard.

just a suggestion though. if you get a longboard i recommend one with a kicktail for dropping curbs and possibly some ollies.

ANY RAYNE.. i have the hustla and it has been SUCH a sick board. slides like a beast and holds it together at speed. Also they are insanely light. oh and be ready to have some fun because the new hyper highway thing is fucking sick, just got done taking it to class and I think it may become a daily habit

Good to know man, that was why I was looking at the arbor bug and hybrid, it seemed like a good mix between a longboard and normal skateboard, but for all I know they could be really shitty. Anyone have any of the ones I mentioned? Or are those not really the kind I should be looking for

If you want to get around U of U and go downtown with a board it really doesnt matter that much. Go check out a board somewhere and see which ones you like the best. When it comes down to it unless you're really good it doesnt matter what you get as long as you're comfortable on the board.

yeah but you also have to realize that longboarding at the U you WILL probably become a much better longboarder, and will want something that you can push yourself on. I went ahead and spent extra money to get a nicer board and I am extremely happy that I did, because daily longboard runs=quick progression

this and bummer they fucked up campus making it impossible to get from dorms to classes now. Id suggest a shitty bike instead, i almost wish i had a bike in the dorms vs a long board.

They turned hyper highway into a single sidewalk with stairs so you're fucking on a longboard and then the parking lots next to hyper suck cause of all the construction. You could walk down to about OSH and then take the rest of the lap, but that sucks. With a bike, you can off road around stairs and shit IMO better now to bike than longboard.

I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE UNIVERSITY IN MY TOWN, THERES RIDGES ALL OVER THE FUCKING SIDWALKS. I DIDNT WANNA GO ON THE ROAD CAUSE THERES ONLY 2 LANE ROADS WITH BUSSES AND HUGE TRUCKS ALL OVER.

I ALMOST ATE SHIT LIKE 10 TIMES, THEN I DID GOING DOWN A HILL AND I FLEW ON TO THE GRASS AND SLID LIKE 10FT ON MY ASS.

SO MAKE SURE THERES NO RIDGES

There are 3, but the last one has like a narrow ass sidewalk with hand rails on each side that would be impossible to ride down on a busy day. Granted, when i was a freshman and it was all sidewalk, it was usually pretty reckless to send it into a crowd of 30 people on the corner at the bottom of hyper highway. I mean, i only had to jump off 2 or 3 times haha

dont worry about the size of the board, i always just left mine at the door. i have a 42" gravity whiich is sick cuz i can carve with the loaded kids but still bomb with the dh kids d

I has to investigate this. But there are a lot of viable ways to get down campus from the dorms. Go down legacy bridge make that right and take the parking lot. To avoid hyper highway just use the sidewalk by the humanities building and go through the union parking lot. You should also be able to just bomb it down south campus drive.

Freshman year was the best for longboarding when they werent destroying hyper highway and the new dorms by huntsman.

You can just bomb through the grass next to the stairs on HPER, way easy and it scrubs a little bit of speed as well so you dont deck some rando walkers

yeah especially once it gets packed down a little more. I have a feeling there will be paths like there were next to the huntsman center
