basically, watching it now and like 124243 countries are revolting. glad im not 18, no draft for me
 
if their really is a world war, then it will go for a long time.We also won't start a draft for a few years.So basically, you're fucked reguardless.

anyway people saw what happened in eqypt and decided that it was possible in their own countries. Those trendsetter egyptians
 
seriously i was just watching the news and it listed like 4-5 countries with egypt like revolts happening
 
my two best friends are officers in the marines. both just graduated college and are waiting to go to OCS for a second time...then deployment. And neither are the type to want desk jobs, they are gung-fucking-ho about killing some kind of brown people.

This shit is fucking wack. we should not fuck with other countries unless we have a multinational UN backed peace keeping force. Or if some one directly fucks with the US we should just literally bomb every govt building in the country to rubble

they are revolting in a good way though, wanting to change from dictatorship to democracy, this wont start a world war, in fact the opposite, the us is also aiding in the situation in egypt, obviously this will make the countries better,more peaceful etc. than they were bofore / thread
 
Why does everyone assume that aliens want to kill us? What if they just wanted to stop in and say hello, maybe have a bite to eat or a coffee or something, and be on their merry way, galavanting across the universe?
 
but we are friends with Egypt's old govts and what happens when the governments of the other countries start to shoot protestors.
 
internal conflict within states is not going to cause ww3. conflict between 2 different countries which have many allies potentially may, aka israle palenstine, n.korea ,s. korea
 
protestors/revolutionsaries always end up taking casualties, your point? also, when was the last time you saw 2 democracies having a big war?
 
how do you know they can even ingest coffee? and if we're at war why wouldn't they kill us...they don't want to hang out with a race that is fighting against themselves. in fact they could probably steal our planet from us pretty easily since we would be fighting eachother.
 
i dont know why everyone also thinks that they would take over the planet, there are billions of others out there, we have confirmed that many have water, and some that have way more precious metals and what not than ours, i think they would just have the decency to let us be and take some of the planets that dont have life, or at least intelligent life
 
why would they try and take control of an intelligent race. if i was them i would target primitive ones like ours. judgement day is upon us, 2012 is going to be a crazy year
 
this. as far as we know we are the most intelligent life form there has ever been, and our knowlege is growing exponentially, also as far as we know we are the only planet with life in the universe, not saying that i dont think that its possible for other planets to have life but we have no proof of it. tell me where i am wrong but i think we are pretty damn intelligent
 
no, you just need to take a look at out technology, medical practices etc. like i said, we have a long way to go. i guarantee any alien race that came to earth would be far superior to us. we would get destroyed
 
as a planet, we haven't even harnessed a solid source of renewable energy that can last us centuries, haven't found out how to reach other dimensions, haven't figured out how to travel through space effectively enough to find a new planet to inhabit if shit does indeed go down on earth.
 
i dont think you could be more wrong, there is a reason it has taken our planet to have life as intelligent as us, i think if there is any life on other planets it could only be as far advanced as us. and if a more intelligent race has or does exist why havent they blown themselves up like we are going to do to ourselves

According to your logic, whether it is there or not, it must be better than us. Exactly what proof do you have that any other form of life is more intelligent than us? I mean, I have no evidence supporting the fact that we are more intelligent than anything else, but you seem pretty damn convinced that any alien race would be more intelligent than us. I will agree, though, that if they have found a way to travel through space/time to visit our planet before we have discovered or created any such device, logically they would be superior; HOWEVER; to my knowledge, no aliens have ever visited Earth, rendering your opinion just as invalid as mine or anyone else's.
 
ok well we estimate that the big bang happened somewhere around 14 biillion years ago, after that it took around 9 billion years for actual solar systems and planets to happen, and our planet is around 5 billion years old and life is only 3.5 Billion years old, and we are this intelligent after those 3.5 billion years. show me where there is more room for evolution in there that more intelligent life could have developed, and the chances that life appears is so unlikely, and if it has elsewhere, it would be so far away that it would take way to long to travel here. what now?
 
no. you're twisting my words. i said exactly what you just said. if an alien race was to come here then they would obviously be superior to us. well, you have pretty minimal knowledge then. if you were to actually read a book instead of believing all the crap you are fed then maybe we can have a discussion. but until then, its your argument which is invalid. your opinions don't hold any merit bud
 
all species evolve at different rates. that would be stupid to say that aliens couldn't have evolved more than us because they only had the same amount of time to evolve as we did. i dont need to go into why, because its pretty obvious. and why is it unlikely? why are you so narrow minded to think the universe revolves around us? wait..are you religious?
 
I have no idea what you're trying to say. Honestly, I have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about, I have never read anything on the subject, and I'm just trying to start an argument. I'm just confused as to why you think we are so unintelligent compared to anyone else that may be out there. As someone else pointed out higher up in the thread, we haven't been able to use natural resources well, find alternatives to fossili fuels, blah blah, which would appear to make us unintelligent, but who the fuck is to say that any alien race HAS done these things? That's what baffles me. We know nothing about alien life, or even if it exists as more than bacteria or some shit.
 
i never said they have. im just saying that taking a look at our current knowledge of just shit in general proves how primitive we are in the bigger picture. aliens dont need to have done those things to be more advanced than us. well, that last comment im not even going to reply to. your first few statements prove your knowledge about that. again, your own viewpoints dont count
