I'll pay to have this thread pinned on the NSG page forever once I get my beloved Sonics back

it will happen, las vegas and seattle are the next two cities to get a franchise supposedly. the east will expand into parts of the western conference to balance the ratio back out.

If this happens I'll pay to watch the Blazers dunk all over the Super Sonics. Maybe you all can hire Gary Payton II next lol

I love the fact that I went to school in Boston and live in denver so no matter which team I support we’re going to the mf finals baby

Just win tonight and clinch a playoff spot, please...

LIGHT. THE. BEAM.

Kings are such a wealth franchise it’s insane. I was watching a game once and they had a blimp flying around inside of the arena dropping “vouchers for a cup that turns purple” and then they won that game and lit the beam it’s absurd what’s going on in Sacramento

Haha shit, thats wild to hear given that back in the Arco days under the Maloofs it felt like they barely even tried, but would rather just tell everyone 'come to vegas and stay at our casino' and that was it. The Kings were good back then, but only due to some pretty savvy trades - they haven't been able to sign someone decent for years.

I cant belive the Kings and Warriors are actually playing in the playoffs together... my whole childhood, neither team was good whenever the other was doing well... either that or they were both terrible.

Northern California is going to be an absolute buzz this series... Every bar in Sacto is going to be packed. I wish I was there to be part of it all because this is special.

I totally get embiid but I feel like giannis does so much for winning for the bucks its a no brainer

I don’t like embitch but this year he has a veryyyy strong case and TBH should win it

Kings are going to WCF

kings have been fun to watch for sure, fox gives me allen iverson vibes. will be cool to see how he continues to develop his game. if he can get a 3 ball, he will be a top 5 guard in the league. i dont think they stand a chance against GS but it'll be a fun series non the less, always cool to see a new team start to become successful . Give them a few years, they'll make a finals appearance

also i would like to officially say im now endorsing the suns as the winners of the west. after some thought, nuggets arent built to play at that level of intensity this season imo...

still got bucks for the east.

Sacramento will live and die by it's offense at this point. It is the most efficient offence in the history of basketball. If the dubs can't stop them defensively, the Kings will roll.

I expect this series to be close, but it will come down to how well the Kings hit buckets more than anything.

I think Embiid nabs the MVP. Doesn’t feel correct to anoint Jokic a third time. And while Giannis is always top notch, this didn’t feel like an outstanding year for him. Don’t get it twisted, he’s my best player in the league right now. But in terms of what I think will happen factoring in voters liking to crown someone new, Joel.

At the moment my gut says Suns - Celtics Finals but I could just as easily see the Bucks coming out of the East. I feel like everyone in the West has glaring flaws or concerns that whoever comes out will be up against it with their eastern opponent.

With all the Kings talk, I think they’re fun but in terms of their run in the playoffs I worry about experience. Some teams move ahead of schedule as playoff rookies, but usually not to a Final unless they are especially stacked. (Think 2012 Thunder) Which is nothing to sneeze at. This Kings team has legitimately climbed out of the hell they were in which is great. A bit reminiscent to me of the 60 win Hawks team from a few years back. Well oiled machine of an offense that hums during the regular season, but could sputter in the playoffs with physical, more experienced opponents (Warriors). And leaking like a sieve on defense is a big concern any playoff team. I think it’s great to get playoff experience regardless, especially against the defending champs. Exactly the kind of culture building experiences teams need to turn things around.

I think that's the common consensus about how a lot of people expect Sacramento to perform, but I really don't buy it for a few reasons.

The playoffs are usually dictated by how healthy a team is, and how prepared they are with coaching -

the Kings have a well-rested, healthy squad, and something that a lot of teams don't - and that's a coach who has a TON of playoff experience and knowledge about the opposition, and who has really got this team doing what he asks for. Mike Brown is going to win coach of the year hands down, and he has this team fully bought into his system and fully trusting him. There's no doubt he's going to have them prepared against the team he coached the last 7 years through the playoffs - he knows those players' weaknesses and how to prepare his guys to exploit them. It's going to come down to how well he can prepare his guys and how well they can keep the offence churning out points like they have all year.

Could the Warriors just dominate the Kings with incredible coaching and solid play due to their players' experience and talent? Sure... That's totally an acceptable expectation, but I would not count out the Kings just because their players haven't been to the playoffs given how seasoned their coaching staff is.

If the Kings were matched up against the Clippers, I would absolutely put my money on Sacramento given Paul George being out, and their subsequent overreliance on Kawhi, but with the Warriors, I feel it's a bit more of a coinflip, really. Nevertheless, I don't expect either the warriors nor Sac to go to the finals, much less win the whole thing. So this could simply just be a really fun competition for regional bragging rights. I just want it to be a good series - please let it go to a game 7 and show the world how awesome Sacramento is as a town and a fanbase... I really hope Sacramento can pull it off and keep lighting the beam for at least another round.
