My uni wont let me ski

monash university business faculty caulfield campus is gay.

its in melbourne in australia.

they won't let me study and ski.

my parents won't let me ski if i am not studying at the same time. ive already maxxed out the deferral option.

EVERYONE else- arts faculty, scholarship office, teachers, lecturers, friends, the prime-minister, everyone, said it was fine. Just the business faculty have a problem with the fact that if the subject is offered on campus then you HAVE to do it on campus. WHY???? Theres no frickin snow on campus.

hence they are truly gaylord. what do i do? i HAVE to ski.

this is gay. sorry i think im done ranting here.....
 
yeh i did that last year... only problem is melbournes closest (decent) ski resort is 4 &1/2 hours away haha so its not so much sneaking out as running away. schools work kinda different over here- especially in melbourne people dont live on campus they still live at home or wherever. anyway cos i have to keep a distinction average (on a scholarship) at everything its all complicated and so the best option was to just study and live up there not have to commute. Stupid uni!

and the parties arent as good in melbourne as at falls creek.
 
but you hve vacations right? Then you can go there or just in the weekends? I dont really see the problem...
 
you might just had to do weekenders mate..or skip some classes and do a fri-wed every 5 weeks and then in holidays.

im in sydney and ill do fri-tues prob 4 times at perisher - 6-5 hours away.
 
yeah its so worth the travel hey. i love it up there. nah my problem is money then- when im up at falls i instruct full time and get cheap accommodation and free pass. if i stay in melbs then its too expensive cos i either work in melb (less time for skiing) and then have no set place to stay at tha snow. damn really need my own chalet or something. we were members of a couple lodges at hotham but im really loving falls right now. eh whatever hey. screw uni ill work it out. just wanted to rant about it i guess...
 
I'm at uni and get to ski quite often. True, I was threatened by my tutor that he'd break my toes so I couldn't go skiing but I ended up good in the end. Also, in British unis, if you're winning accolades for the university in whatever sport you're doing they tend to let you off. Just make sure when you're not skiing, you're learnin'!
