My terrible very bad no good mounting

I'm an east coast skier, so I spend all most all my time in the park (which itself is fairly shitty as it is in upstate ny). I got a pair of volkl walls on a clearance sale and brought them to my local mountain to get mounted, and then....disaster struck. I got them back, skied on them for a week, and then realized that one ski was mounted true center as I had asked, and one was mounted back two and a half inches. Surprised and infuriated, I brought my skis back to the skop, giving them clear instructions to remount them at true center. I come back the next day to pick them up, and now both skis are mounted back, the exact opposite of what I clearly asked for. I brought them back AGAIN AGAIN, and am resorting to calling the mounter/manager of the shop because he did an absolutely rediculous job on my skis twice. The tricky thing is, they already screwed and filled holes for center mount on one ski, which implies they would have to predrill and put threaded screws in, which I've heard just cant handle the kind of pressure big jumps and freeskiing apply, not to mention the shitty side affects of having your skis mounted THREE times. I'm wondering what to do, if I should hold them accountable for the destruction of my skis and make them pay for a new pair or not, Im not sure. Either way though, soooo shitty.

Make them buy you new skis. They screwed up not once, but twice. And the first one especially was not caused by a simple misunderstanding. Don't let them talk you into anything but free skis.

it seems like since they mounted them wrong twice and that makes it so you cant mount them exactly where you want them they should have to buy you new skis.

make them buy you new skis, and then never go back there again, but you skied on them a couple times before noticing they were mounted differently?

yah definately get free pair of ski because that is horible! threaten to sue lol as gay as that is... if they dont do anything about it you have consumer rights too. keep us updated

definitely make them give you new ones, and dont be afraid to stand your ground if they dont want to. dont let them control the conversation, you control it

ridiculous that you didnt notice on the lift or while they were on your feet or maybe when you looked at them the first time? im sorry, that sucks and i hate shops mounting skis wrong, but really?

how could they center mount 1 and mount the other one in a completely different place? that is just fucked. go in there and act all nice and shit (they'll actually listen to you) and if they dont just start bitching at them until they give you new skis. if they dont just go outside the store and start telling people who are about to enter the store that they fuck up your skis and you should'nt go here.

I'm sorry that happened.

Try measuring them and drawing a line next time with a sharpie, do it on masking tape if you don't want it on the topsheets. Personally, I do it directly on the topsheets just in case they have to be remounted to so I don't have to remark them.

There are hundreds of threads with similar problems to yours on this site, and if a little time is taken before you take them in, it will save you lots of anguish and pain.

this sort-of happened to me, i even measured the ski and drew and line where i wanted them mounted which was -4cm from true center and i told them that also, but they mounted them at true center. it took them 2 weeks to get it done and the boss tried to charge me for shop hours even though i bought the skis there. i just said fuck it ill be skiing alot of park anyways. and the people at the shop were soooooo stupid i just didnt want to go back.

You don't need insets. Just get them to redrill the old centre holes on that one and drill some new holes in the other ski.

YES! BY ALL MEANS!! this shop fucked up and owes you a pair of new skis NO DOUBT. thats just the way it works man, i went through the same thing once i know just how you feel.

but yeah man. get those new skis! they owe them to you!

then tell that shop to fuck off and maybe they should get a technician that's not a fucking retard.

ha i guess thats a little harsh but i defiantly wouldn't ever give them any business ever again, go get em' mounted somewhere else after you get them, and then i would tell them that i'm not shopping there anymore because of the lack of profession and service. or something like that, you know, let them know you think the place is shitty, cuz then they'l really hook you up haha.

the walls are incredible skis i would def make them buy me a new pair of skis and if they refuse to take them to court!!!

this reminds me of a book called Andrew and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. That does suck though, I'm glad my shop calls me up and asks if they aren't 100% sure how Iw ant my skis mounted.

wow man, they definitely owe you some skis, i would make sure you go about this the right way because a third mount, even on brand new skis, is going to really weaken them. make sure you collect!

demand new skis, and a full refund for the mounts. and never go there again, let others know not to go there

Ok so I called them on tuesday, and they said they would call me back, which they didn't. I called back today and firstly, they refused to buy me new skis because of the week I skied on them after they were mounted, so they wernt new, but they were willing to go half on a pair of skis or something, which I don't find acceptable. I held a shitty dishwashing job to pay for my 500 dollar walls, and they fucked them up. The other option they offered is remounting them for the third time. They claim that all they have to do is take out the plug out of the old center mount hole and rescrew the bindings back in, so there would be no redrilling involved. Can anyone verify this?

I already did. They'll need to drill one set of centre holes in the ski that was originally mounted back. You'll have one extra set of holes. No big deal. Chill out.
