My sister ran away

Yesterday while my dad and I were skiing, my little sister (13) ran away. It is now 24 hours later, she's still nowhere to be found.

What do?

Call ski patrol then, I dont see why you havent searched for help yet, why leave the hill without her even? I dont wanna sound like a dick but you guys sound like assholes for not putting in effort to find her.

He probably knows something. (I'm assuming she ran away from home or just didn't come home from a friends or something and that she did not go up to the ski area with the family.)

We left her at home all day while we went skiing, definitely would not leave her on the mountain for 24 hours. She was gone when we got back and left a note that said "Don't try to find me", but obvioulsy we are going to try to find her.

Ohhh my bad I assumed she was skiing with you. Yeah maybe look for her as that could be some sort of warning sign.

Dad probably knows the whole story. Parents don't usually let on how much they know.

Has she run away before? Have you contacted her mom (assuming she and you're dad aren't together anymore)? Have you contacted her friends/their parents? Teachers? Anyone else she might trust or go to for help?

She hasn't, but she's definitely nuts. My dad has pretty much contacted anyone she might talk to about it, I guess we just wait now.

UPDATE:

Apparently my dad has talked to her, and she is now living with some sort of bum family on the streets of downtown portland. She says she's going to keep this up as long as possible. My dad is looking into reform schools, bc she'll just run away again if he brings her home.

Fuckin Portland, man.. My manager's daughter did the same thing, except she fled from Colorado all the way out to Portland. The homeless population in Portland is fuked, what's the big magnet about that place? Pretty place, but I would never want to raise a family out there. Another dude I hung out with in college went out west to Portland and San Fran for the summer inbetween semesters and literally lived on the streets/train hopping and did heroin. How the hell he made it back to class and lived a semi normal life is beyond me..

My fiancee is from Portland and even in the Portland Bride magazine it talked suggested having strippers and a weed bar at the wedding. Place is classy as fuck...

Honestly, how do you feel seeing your sister trying to throw her life away over daddy issues? Shit's gotta drive you nuts. I remember in HS some bitch we used to hang with ran away. What a good way to treat your friends when police are going door to door to every friends place looking for answers (because you know, people who run away never have the type of friends that are doing illegal shit all day...)

I would just pretend she never existed and consider adopting a nicer young girl to replace her.

Tell your dad its time to cut your losses and move on. Let her know she won't be welcomed around on holidays and not to bother you guys.

Do you want your kids to be made fun of because they have an aunt who has done porn and worked as a stripper? Do you want their little black cousins coming over and stealing their x box games or something else every visit?

Shes probably already been boned 10+ times by disease ridden junkies as I said cut your losses and look into adoption.
 
That post was a little dick btw I hope this works out for you just make sure you let your parents know to not waste your college fund sending your sister to expensive bad kid school when you've behaved yourself and been a loyal son and shes living with bums.

Hey OP, I'm not sure how close you and your sis are but I imagine it's not easy having her dip out on the family like that, especially at the age of 13. I can't relate to your situation but I feel for you

She's 13, but this is probably just the story of how your mom had you when she was 13, so this is believable.

And also, I can't for the life of me understand why you would runaway to live as a homeless person in a city, if she was doing the whole Into the wild thing just really early I would get it but a city? Sucks dude

Honestly OP and his family are in a really horrible and unfair spot bad news bears shit OPs college fund will probably be wasted on sending his sister to military school he should realize this and intervene and have a heart to heart with his sister so she cuts the shit and starts behaving. He needs to let her know she can't pull stuff like this until she is 18 and he'll be the one suffering if she does.
