i've tried everything i've read on this forum for get my shins from hurting in my ski boots. Nothing has worked so far. I have spk kaos's, and i got sized by a boot fitter so the size is right. No matter what i try, about half way through my day my skiing my shins hurt soooo much.

i dunno if this makes a difference but im 5'10" and 140lbs

any help?

YOUR SHINS HURT YOU SHINS ARE HURTING!!!!!!

Sorry i had to but were something soft in front of them, flex the tongues so they are kind of soft.

I had this problem last year, got a sticky foam padding thing out of a first aid kit to put on my shins, if you have hairy legs shave your shin or something first though, i forgot to and pulling the thing off hurt like hell.

Definitely try loosening up your boots a bit first. I had some seriously bad shin bang and that helped most of it.

If that doesn't work, I'd try putting foam (like on a bed pad) on the tongue, in between your shin and boot.

Otherwise, Full Tilts.

Also, you may need to work on landing your tricks properly. If you're landing backseat on everything you're definitely going to have more shin bang if you're landing normal.

Good luck man.

its weird thats what i hear, but i put my boots wicked tight and god mad shin bang, then i loosened em and got none

and you may have stress fractures, so it always hurts

DEFINTALY FULL TILTS .... or i keep my ankle straps as tight as they go and leave the ones over my foot a little loss it works for me

I completely have to disagree with you. I tightened my boots last friday and got the worse shin bang I've ever gotten. With loose boots I never really get shin bang.

put the power strap under the shell to make the liner as tight as possibleits the space between your shin and the liner that causes the bang when u land backseat...

with kaos's though you don't even need to do that, just try pulling on the overly large strap to get it as tight as you can, I have the same boots and the reason I got the shin bang was because my boots were way too loose and the strap was over the shell, just lift the strap up to the top of the boot and just yank on it as tight as you can. If you can rest for a little while, let the shin bang heal a little bit then go back to skiing with tight boots. that's what I did and I've yet to get it again (knock on wood).

Hope that helps...

shin splints happen because of the shock which travel through your leg when you ski. The only way to somewhat prevent it is, landing switch, traning your shin muscles and stretch them after. But it takes alot of time and you're probably going to struggle with it all winter, but if you train them good during the summer you might have a better next season. but start training, and stretching themright away. also, buy some Linnex and smeare it on your shin. massage it in!

Peace

shin bang isn't actually banging your shin on the boot. It's the over extension of the muscle in your shin. Therefore riding with loose boots, landing wrong, and now stretching are the biggest causes of it.

If you stretch them out, and TIGHTEN your boots BEFORE you get it, it will help.

ive had the same problem. take a break until they feel better. then wear your boots as tight as they can go. the flex will help you out. i use to wear my boots medium. got mad shin bang. tighten them up super tight and feels allot better.

AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! MYY SHINNSSSS!!!!!!!! MY SHINSSSS ARE BROKENNNNN!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH
(his shins are broken)

Ive got mad shin bang right about now. I keep thinking Im going to take a day or two off to let them heal, but the mountian is quite seductive.

try putting a strip of egg crate packing foam between your shin and the tongue on the boot. i did this this year and my shins are actually healing even though im skiing harder and longer. it felt a little funky at first but now i actually like it better because it feels snug but soft.

i had it horibly too. If you losen your boots, it;s only going to make it worst.

I bought a pair of booster straps and it changed my life. best ski investment I've ever made

Swap the power strap for booster straps, lift it onto the liner as much as you can and crank that and the boot up tight.
Problem solved for me and I had it bad! Booster straps are king

I forced myself to take 5 days off. It was hard waking up and seeing A51 from my pillow every morning, but I got through it. I went back out and had the ride of my life. I also bought like 5 pairs of Smartwool socks with thicker shin padding.

Yeah it's all about how you ski. Little things like foam and booster straps (and fulltilts lol) may help but if you land heavy in the backseat or ski with your weight back all day it's going to keep happening. Advil and weed are a good fix for skiing through shinbang as well.

You cant solve shin bang with objects!!! i dont know how many times ive tried to say this!! Its from landing backseat/manualing/afterbang. when you land backseat or put prussure like that you get mad shin bang!

Dont land Backseat and you will be good to go!!!

get two mouse pads n cut out a shape that fits good on the tongue of your boot and shoe glue it there n tighten up your boots as much as possible. no more shin bang.

I think a big thing is the flex of your boots, you said you are 5ft 10 and 140, that is pretty light for most boots, Im going to assume you have a normal size foot and that means you are in an adult sized boot. Your boot might be too stiff, causing it to not flex when you drive forward through your turns and when you land your jumps. The solution is to buy a new boot, or to take the one you have to a boot fitter and they can grind out some areas that will make it softer.

Those are mainly quick fixes but if you want to prevent it in the future, work on staying centered on your skis and strengthen your legs.

get some good boosters, comfy socks, and dont ski backseat. have your boots not loose but not tight

For me, it's the total opposite. I crank up my boots now, and I never get shinbang. Before, I had them tight, but they could always go tighter, now, nope, they're as tight as possible.

I have your same exact problem. My solution works for me. At lunch, pop at least 6 advil and down it with a five hour energy. I ski pain free for the rest of the day.

I'm assuming that since you said that you've tried everything everyone has said on this site, and this entire thread is just a repeat of everything that has been said before (at least everything that I read), you're probably still looking for a solution to your shin bang problem.
I used to get wicked shin bang, too. I tired everything I could thing that everyone suggested and would still get it. My suggestion would be to work out dude. At 5' 10" & 140 lbs. (i think i have those right) I can't imagine that you've got the most massive legs ever. Do every lower leg workout you can think of over the summer and do them several times a week. This should help you like no other. I'm not too much bigger than you are and had quite possible the skinniest chicken legs imaginable. This helped me like no other. Obviously this is a long term solution, so until all of the snow melts, eat vicodin like its candy. At least you'll still be able to ski for the rest of the year.
Good luck bro.

get booster straps or just tighten the fuck out of your powerstraps, try to make all the buckles/straps even tightness so there's no specific spot jamming into your shins

despite everybody always saying to make your boots tighter, i find that in park it helps to keep them really loose, but tighten down the top strap a lot, so its more stretchy flex. but if you are anywhere else, then tight buckles is the way to go.
