My school just banned yoga pants.

look at what girls have done to NSG. we are fighting over womens fashion. i never thought i would see the day...

figured i should contribute a hot picture to this thread

I find this extremely stupid. Not only do they make asses look incredible even if they're not, they are also super comfortable. I don't wear them to school just because I feel they aren't appropriate school attire, but I'm all for girls wearing them. Who cares. It's now against my school dress code to wear super skinny jeans... stupid.

I stand with Hamnut on this topic. Not the self image argument, but the professional attire at school.

School is not like going to the park, to the playground, a party or a bedroom. It is an institution to prepare you for the real world. As much as high school has become a giant adolescent day care, people still work there and a certain amount of professionalism should be respected. School is supposed to be a preparation to the 9to5 schedule. Learning about basic life skills, socialization and knowledge is what you are all supposed to be doing...

So lets talk about cloting and professionalism. The first thing I have to point out is respect. Do you see your teachers walking around in thug tall t's with their pants on the ground, or naughty school girl costumes? I don't think so. These people are payed to deliever a quality course (sometimes I doubt) and should be dressed appropriatly to show they are in control and interested in what they do. It just so happends most dress the same after class.

Same goes with students: teachers who see student slobs, or students not willing to show effort in grooming do not what to put any effort into their job because they will feel like only blowing air. Teachers in that situation becaume worse instructors...they feel that if their students show no respect towards them, what is the point of fighting a lost cause.

The second point I need to bring attention too, is image. "Yoga pants on fit girls is ok, but not on fat chicks". Now we just brought an equality issue. Why should one be allowed but not the other? Its about image, outright banning them prevents harrassment based on clothing articles. One less fight between parents and school personel. Trust me people sue a lot more than 30 years ago.

Last, "give someone an inch and they take a mile". What I mean by that is allow yoga pants and one girl will try to take it one step further...say transparent super small pussy showing pants. Now what can you do with that? Even on the streets, people whouldn't wear that. But teens are naturally trying to push the rules without thinking of the possible consequences.

Let me finish this rant by saying, if it feels awesome: wear it. If you are going to be in public, be reasonable. If you going to work in it: wonder how customers feel about it...life isnt always about you. (unless your a stripper or a prostitute.

Sparknotes: I dont agree with yoga pants in school because it shows lack of respect to your peers.

^Well to me, the most respect a girl can show me happens when her clothes come off...

On a more serious note, you can't be serious. I agree with you that yogas do not adhere to work/business/real world attire. However, you can promote that all you want and I'd be with you on it, but you cannot put a RULE into place banning them. We have freedom of expression. If I want to look like a slod, idiot or slut, I can. If I want to look good, professional, or successful, I can (and in this case I will.)

WHO.THE.HELL.CARES? I mean my god, what a stupid issue to bicker about? There are more important things schools should be worrying about. My high school banned jeans with holes, flip flops, and high heels. So stupid. Educators should be more focused on lecturing techniques and their students GPA's rather than what they're wearing to school.

Da fuck? HAHAHA I love how a simple thread turned into this

And op, my school did not ban yoga pants, and nearly everyone wears them. You jelly?

yeah, you say "WHO THE HELL CARES"

i read this as if you are annoyed by the attention this issue has received (multiple threads on ns, newspaper articles, ...).

yet, you direct our attention to the next senseless restriction, so it seems that you do care A LOT.

I think you misunderstood me, love.

I was saying that I don't understand why schools are making such a big stink about yoga pants. First of all, there are much more important issues (as I mentioned before) that should come first. I mean hell, an education is the whole reason they're there to begin with and I'd much rather have my students showing up in yoga pants than skipping class and performing poorly on their coursework.

Sure, school isn't a fashion show but still I've seen much worse than yoga pants in high school.

Regardless, it just seems like something that a parent called in to complain about. So stupid.

When I said, "WHO THE HELL CARES," I was only referring to the idiocy of this issue.

op when your in a class without yoga pants just look at this (i go to an all boys school so not much sympathy, but I always help a fellow user in need)

bahahahaha what the actual fuck is in your head?

they are comfy pants that girls wear. not really suggestive at all unless you have a perverted mind and are on the look out for asses and cameltoes all day.

how do you feel about female runners wearing what look like bikini bottoms? I'd like to hear more of your opinions.
