My question to Nimbus

Been loving all things Nimbus and wanted to buy a copy of Contrast to round out the collection. I sent them an email a couple of weeks ago but they've been too busy shredding the gnar to respond. What's the next best thing to having them write back? NS'ers having their take to my question!

Hello Nimbus!

First off I'm a huge fan of both your movies and the crew. Every time I watch one of your edits or flicks it makes me want to go skiing. After years of buying hard copies of films I recently started buying digital copies on itunes (Canadian store). All new ski porn is $7.99 there. $15 for a digital copy on your site for Contrast seems a little steep. Any chance you will offer your films on itunes like Rage, MSP, Level 1 and TGR do and reach a larger audience?

Cheers,

So what do you think?

I may be wrong about this, but I believe it's a pretty long and in-depth process to be published on iTunes. And Nimbus is a very small company that likely doesn't have the time or resources right now to pursue that publication avenue. If you want to wait a couple years, they'll probably have Contrast on iTunes at some point, but I wouldn't hold your breath right now.

i would think its kind of like how radiohead and other artists stopped selling albums at best buy and other places. the amount of money saved on distribution and % of sales going to best buy or itunes adds up pretty quick. especially when you're as small as nimbus. i'm sure they're trying to figure out a way to get their stuff out to canadians.

as for price, supporting guys like nimbus for $15 vs guys like MSP and PBP for $7 is worth it. think of it this way, just save $1 every day for two weeks, or $.50 for a month. all film companies, msp, pbp, level 1, nimbus, rage, tgr, etc. put out amazing stuff, that takes a lot of time and money to create.

btw, nimbus' new en route is the best $5 i ever spent

i mean, if you buy the hard copy you get en route and tracking yeti also, so its kind of worth it IMO
