Basically, this proram is called desktopX and it is fucking amazing. there is so much fucking potential! you can code your own shit if you wnat and modify anything you see or that i explain. if there is a button that openes IE, you can make it open (and say) Firefox.... also you can add in outside code. you can also move any of the items to wherever you want em. super sick, check it out on wincustomize.com, also get different themes people have made for it, or make you own.

^that oen is kickass, those things on the left side are tabs and if you click on them menues pop up like the internet one you see.

^this one is like the most kickass of them all though. like almost every shape you see there is a button or somthing. you can see the remote controlls for winamp or itunes there. they are part of the desktop so they are there all the time. also like if you click GFX or Net or those things there is a kickass menue that pops up and shit.

^this one is pretty basic but it is good to show you guys the potential of all this shit. when you click ont he buttons on the top left, a menue pops up. also you can see the clock, calinder google and internet searchbars, and music remot controller. those are all part of the desktop and can be toggeled on and off using the tilda key (squiggle thing near the 1 key.)

damn dude, i whish i could mod osx. there a few things that i would change to make usage faster, liek all their cheesy animations that are all cute but take up time. that is why i still cant say im a fan of macs. although windows also sucks, and Linux is like giving yourself a tatoo. it hurts and you will mostlikley fuck up, but in the end it is pretty cool.

the only thing i like alot about osx is expose. other then that, it is kinda stupid like there is 2 different ways to hide programs and shit. also it is extremly gay that you cant just quit by clicking the x, no you have to go up to the menue and quit. basically if these things were fixed that would be pretty cool and i think that for the msot part, i would be happy

Jaross, you need to learn to use Mac OS X before you trash talk it. There are very simple ways of closing windows and programs, sorry you can't click your X (which you can to close windows), but its not hard to figure out how to close it using a faster method. You can also turn the animations off.

ya, i know apple q.... but y add the extra shit into the design? also after using it about an hour ago (i hadnt for a while) i remeber that it really isnt so bad. like it is harder to mod the os, but it doesnt really matter becuase you dont have as much of a need to. the only thing that is annoying is the rate of acceleraation on my mac. i cant get it right, i did download USB overdrive, but i cant figure out how to config it for my user account. Im still standing firm that if you buy a PC and a MAc at the same time for the same price, the mac will be slower...

ya definatly. macs hardware barkes too easily. also, pcs are cheaper for the proformance.

G4 Tower: $1,200 (1.25 ghz, 768 mb of ram)

AMD: $850 (Athalon 2800 64 2.4 mhz, 512 mb of ram)

Both bought around the same time. AMD has better startup time, better run time for photoshop, firefox, and better gaming proformance, all not by alot but still.

i will say that OS X is slightly more stable, but serously, i have had it crash much more then you mac people make the situation out to be. and when macs crash, boom the program is gone, on pcs, there is a chance you can revive it yourself or maybe take a screenshot of it before you get rid of it yourself.

I did the same thing quite some time ago - It has been almost a year now, and I really like the windows mac conglomeration that has been created. I had it all decked out with custom control panels and everything, but service pack 2 decided it wouldn't stand for it.

umm no freeze, speed is everything. if its not fast then power doesnt matter and by power i assume you mean multitasking. Pentium is better then AMD for multitasking, but by a extremly small amount. and of corse it is a fair compairison. those are the cold hard facts. even with less ram, the pc did better. and lets face it, macs need alot of ram to run smoothly. startup time overall = better in my pc, less time to run programs on my pc, less time to switch between programs on my pc. less ram and $400 less on my pc.

and, on your mac, have you ever had about 6 windows of firefox open, itunes playing, and photoshop open? becuase that is what i was doing when it froze. and everything fucking quit. you have to admit, when Macs do freeze, it is way fucking worse then when pcs freeze. i mean my pc locks up on a much more regular basis then my mac, but i never loose any work and it almost aloways comes back after a few seconds. usually that is my fault anyways becuase im jsut running too many programs.

how much ram and processor speed do those skins take up? it seems like all those features would reduce your speed and performance
