So I just put a t2i with 18-55mm and 55-250 mm lenses on layaway with a couple filters and a bag. I have a tripod at home so my question to you newschoolers is what else should I buy for this camera? I mean what else do you guys have that has seemed to be worth the money

I guess thats not too bad, but you should have stuck with just the t2i body IMO but try out that setup and see how it works for you.

Sounds like you're set for now, but I bet you'll outgrow those lenses pretty quickly. A few things that are nice to have for all HDSLR videographers:

Multiple batteries

glidecam 2000

16/32gig class 10 sd card

Magic lantern (free software, so get it!)

Nd filter or polarizer

Rode videomic

Here's some lenses I'd recommend to any filmer using an APS-C HDSLR

Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 non VC

Tokina 11-16 f/2.8

Canon 70-200 f/4 L

Tamron 28-75 f/.28

This is of course quite extensive but I think that over time as you progress this is all some great shit to have.

I work at (basicaly best buy) in canada but better, and I do not understand why the fuck they only market that god dam 55-250. its the only fucking Package I can offer.

a warning because he didn't mention it, if you install magic lantern improperly you can render your camera useless. but with ML installed, a t2i has the features of a camera twice it's price.

Magic lantern is ran thru the SD card, if installed improperly, you use disk utility (on a mac) to erase all data on the card. Then format the card on your camera, then install it properly
