So yeah, I was just crusing around on NS and then I get the spinning ball of death and I can't do shit, no force quit, nothing. So I power it off by the button. Try to restart and it's pissed, I get the white screen with no apple logo, then I get a file with a question mark flashing at me (I'm pretty sure this means Hard Drive major issues). Then sometimes I just get the apple logo, no spinning loading thing.

Has my HD failed?

Shit thing is, my warranty literally ran out 4days ago, so I'm buggered.

Anyone who's clever with Macs I'd be grateful for some advice or input. Thanks

same thing would happen to my old pro. eventually it got so bad that my battery somehow would overheat and melt the internals of my computer.....
I'm typing this from a new macbook.....Its days are numbered.

my dads friend is an IT guy at a school that has all macs, i could ask him next time i see him, idk if il have any advice tho

Hahaha, I love that google search thing. +karma

Yes I'm running Safari too. I've been on Apple forever and this is the first problem I've really come across (with computers at least). Jodi, that's weird that yours eventually loads, it generally means your fucked if you see that happen. So lucky you

I keep a backup of everything so it's all good. Just so frustrating. Not what I need.

I may call my local Apple place and beg them to sort it as the warranty is so fresh. Kinda BS if they don't do anything.

+karma for everyone's help.

Can you still buy the Applecare? Cause wouldn't that add 3 more years on to your warranty then you could just wait a week and then go to the store and you'd get a new one but maybe thats too easy and I'm missing something.

Hard drive isn't mounting meaning that is probably crashed, happened to me recently, good ole apple care.
