My local ski area's $500 million expansion plans

$500 Million dollars is going to be pumped into this place including a gondola (NZ's first on a skifield, six pack chairs, multiple quad chairs and a whole mountain turned into a terrain park).

Expansion will be into the unpatrolled crystal valley and new lifts will replace the existing ones. Russian investors and australians are behind it

Yeah. Going to take ages though. Work will start in october 2012 finishing the complete project for the 2015 winter unfortunately
 
3 years isn't really that long. Here in Lake Louise in a national park it takes years to get approved for anything let alone build it. They had proposed to new chairs for like 10 years had um on the map and everything now thats completly gone haha
 
Mmm it has been in the pipeline since 2007 but received resource consent this morning. A lot of planning and submissions have had to go through to get it going. I can see the area turning into a mini whistler with shops, condos and mountain biking in the summer. Personally stoked to finally see some progress and development in the area.

I hope they offer life season passes as the lift tickets will probably hit $100.

$10000 In this case would be a steal. (100 days skiing to pay for it)
 
Yeah man. Last years setup was small but super friggin fun. Floaty and soft all year. Last jump was ill for flat 3s
