My Lincoln Loop is Super Weird. What Am I Doing Wrong?

Have your right hand start behind you, when you pop, throw your head back more. You're sending your head forward like it's a frontflip.

If you know how to rodeo, the set for a lincoln is very similar to that

It looks more like a frontflip than a lincoln loop. Build a bigger jump, pop more and be patient. You're bending at the side before you even leave the jump, which is making it impossible to get a good pop.

It looks like your upper body is setting lincoln loop but your legs are setting frontflip. Look at your tails. They’re popping up way ahead of your tips. Should be more even for a loop.

You really should hit a proper jump if you want to do it properly. I agree, this is a sick axis but tiny little jumps just make you huck and isn't how you would actually set on any other jump. Would love to see you float this out on a park jump

First of all, thank you people for all your super answers! I would love to practice my tricks on bigger jumps (park jumps), but with 2 kids (one newborn), I can't hit the slopes as much as I want... I hope that soon enough I'll go back in a park and relearn everything I did in my backyard in a real park!... For now, I'm just working at being a tiny jump master ?‍?!

Anyway, I tried to apply your advice and overall my motion is waaay better. However, I'm now facing another problem... Even if my motion is ok at the start, I always end up doing an extra unexpected 180! It's like how your flip a TV remote and it starts twisting in the air out of no where... I just can't control this extra 180. Sure, I must be doing something wrong otherwise there would be no such "lincoln loop", but right now I can't put my finger on what it is.

Any advice?

I found with Lincoln's the trick was to initiate the trick from the hips, it gave me way more control of the rotation, weirdly I had a similar issue with unwanted rotation around the wrong axis, which was fixed by my weight a bit more forward than I thought for the trick to keep everything lined up to land forwards smoothly. almost like jumping forwards a little.

So for me it was initiating from the hips and leading the rotation with my head after the pop had started the trick, making sure to keep my head very slightly in front of the shoulders to stop unwanted rotation

Remember to breathe out before popping, can't make it look good if you have two huge inflated airbags in your chest.

Hope this makes any kind of sense

I'll think about the hips and try to move my weight a bit forward. I'll surely have to try it, read your comment again, try it again, etc. to fully understand what you describe. Nevertheless, it gives me a solution to explore and I will certainly try it! Thank you very much!

My lincolns started getting the last minute twist too when cliff jumping. Usually if I slow the rotation down a bit it helps.

Also when I do it unnatural, I don’t have that problem. Not the answer you’re looking for, but try it right side too and see what happens! If anything its a good excuse to learn both ways.

I also think setting forward a bit more may help, as mentioned above. Lincolns are tricky on skis because you have to counter the angle of the take off and landing. Tough to find that balance of setting not too far back or forward.

This second vid looks wayyy better though.

Lincoln with a 180 used to be called a King Flip in blading, a UK guy called Matt King was the first to do it in like 2000
