Hey guys!

Just looking for some basic feedback! This was the first time I delved into filming skiing!

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!

didn't have time to really watch it right now, but basically everything looks too dark. I always use an RGB parade to make sure I have my highlights around 90-95 so that the snow looks bright enough without clipping. angles look good from what i was able to watch though

? the exposure seemed fine he couldve bumped his highlights up a little but maybe he wanted the lighting to be a little darker? maybe you just need to turn your monitor brightness up ha.

OP, that was sick, I noticed you used a couple of sick shots where the trick was pretty mediocre (example, cbox dude came off way early) but i understand you used the shot because it had some nice movement, but it comes down to a point where putting shots of bad tricks isn't always the best option.

Yeah I settled a little more than I would have liked with this edit! Me and Kevin were wanting to just put together a day edit and for about 6 laps of that day we were skipping all rails and attempting Dub 12's which lead to salvaging some shots that were less than "banger" status haha.

nope my monitor is always all the way up. i watched a few other sunny edits after this to make sure it wasn't just me and the snow in all the other edits was brighter without clipping, and just more realistic looking.

all i said was it LOOKS too dark (as in that's my opinion). maybe that's how jasper wanted it, but to me it just looks a little muddy and not quite right. it's not that the whole image seems dark per se, it's just that the ratio of the highlights to mids and lows seems off.

also it was way more noticeable on some shots than others, especially in the beginning. once i was actually able to watch it i realized that a lot of the shots in the second half look better

Came into this thread expecting another shitty gopro video. I was pleasantly surprised. Great work man. I didn't mind the brightness at all actually. I however did not really enjoy the color tone at all really. Im more for the saturated look and I want the colours to pop at you.

All in all a sick edit. Cinematography was on point. Obviously you know whats up and you can deliver.

Out of curiousity what do you normally shoot? That was super sick, I really liked the titles at the start and your glides were awesome.

Haha, that was AWESOME. Right up there with the best of 'em.

Your compisition/framing was in most shots better than what I have seen so far from almost anyone on here. I liked you used 'longer' focal lengths too, not just UWA's. You got close enough to the action to see what was going on and make it intense, but not so close you couldn't see half of what was going on (take note people).

I agree with Will the overall product is a little dark, mostly because the snow is too dark. Bump up the exposure a lil' next time.

Also: I would've liked a little more saturation and color, but that's up to you. I just like it.

Great stuff man. I really hope you'll continue making edits.

Just as a note.. This may be my first skiing based excursion but I work professionally in biking! I'm glad this made a solid first impression with everyone! I plan on hopefully releasing more content on the skiing side of things as time goes on! I am definitely taking note of the things everyone is saying about my color profiling. Generally I personally like to use a flatter look but I totally agree I went a bit overboard attempting to pull a William Desena :)

haha a bunch was overexposed. I did turn up the shadows a bit because I didnt want the trees to be as dark as they were and I dropped the midtones to bring out the shadows that I could barely make out the contours of just to give a bit more detail. What you probably saw was the effect of the midtones being lowered... Definitely darkened it a bit!
