My dad bought a pair of last year's ARG's

The change from 07/08 to 08/09 is rocker. The 08s have a long low profile rocker with a normal tip at the end, and the 09s have a larger rise rocker w/o the full tip at the end. Both are good..If I had to make my pow skis reverse sidecut and choose one of the RS skis on the market it would be ARGs.
 
can't confidently call you out, (in which case Ifail, not you), but they have always been super rockered, meant for powder only. The sidecut within a rev. sidecut was unique to it, with 5 dimensions to it, until the armada alphas and JJ adopted it as well.

Also, thank you for reminding me of a super trippy dream I had about these skis. The only part I really remember is being in a liftline at a beach??? and this crazy dude had a pair of short kayaks strapped to each foot- except that they were really skis, with last years ARG graphic. WTF?
 
they are the shit!!! take them out on any day over 4 in of fresh and it will make it feel like 1ft or more. In deep stuff they are the best ski, period. they are actually really fun in bumps because you can just slide the ski around. they are sloow on cat tracks but who cares. they are really relaxing on groomers back to the lift cause you just slide the skis around and don't have to edge(don't try). but even when the groomers are soft from the fresh snow, you can hold a super solid edge and carve hard.

I could not be more stoked on them. they opened up a whole new world of skiing for me( charging trees, pow, chop, and billy goating).

btw i ski at schweitzer, and they are super fun, you can always find stashes, especially in some steep tight trees( waynes woods, above the park)
