My bindings are cursed.

Dear Gear Talk, (this is my first time here, be sweet)

So, I have some rossignol axium 110 as bindings, bought end of season last year, but first season using those, so they're kinda brand new. And they are basically falling to pieces, at first, the stuff under the toes, some kind of pad (dunno how it's called) broke on the right ski, but I noticed only when I got home, so, on a fall, but dunno which one. Then the brake on the same ski broke later when I landed "perpendicular", dunno if it's clear, so here's a picture of the landing :

The whole brake broke, not only some part of it, the whole shit dislocated from the rest of the binding.

Then a few days after, when landing switch, the whole brake of the other ski broke the same way. So, I went to the shop, and this nice fella got me 2 new brakes and a pad for 40€.

I was pretty happy, I wouldn't have to run after my skis on every fall. (Actually, that's not entirely true, this one time my ski ended up at the bottom of the park after I fell and this gorgeous chick brought it back to me with a huge smile, that was nice.)

Then today, after maybe a week using those new brakes, I land switch off a medium jump, and like 0.67sec after the landing, the left ski goes mad and decides he wants to take another way. I tried skiing switch with only one ski on a good 50cm (around 2 feet) then I crashed miserably, lost the other ski, my poles, my headphones and my pride at the same time.

My buddy is waiting for me with my ski at the bottom, and, oh surprise, the brake on the left ski is gone again..

So, what the fuck? Are the bindings just not designed for park skiing, or am I doing something wrong, or is it a curse?

xoxo

Pics of bindings?

It sounds like you broke your friction pad on your toe...Kinda needed.

Just get some better bindings.

Unless you are 110 pounds or only hitting 15 foot jumps, Id recommend upgrading to a beefier binding. The axium series arent meant for heavy park use. They are the equivalent of the marker m1000 binding. I went through four pairs of those my first year skiing.

Maybe for you axail2s would be a better choice, I chose them as I was a lighter skier and didn't need high din bindings, they are honestly the best low din bindings I've ever used and I would highly reccomend them. Just in case you weren't sure the axail2 is the same binding as the px12

but it's worth it. keep up the good work. and yeah, i'd suggest better bindings. i had axial2s-the step up from your bindings i think-in a 10 din and the same thing happened. i landed hard switch on a 540 and busted the brake. 3 days later the whole brake fell clean off. i got it replaced for cheap, but i didn't want to take another chance. so i bought look pivots, which i don't have skis for until next year, so i'm hoping they'll work better.

question: are your brakes a lot wider than your skis? if your brakes are really wide for your skis, like over 10-15mm wider than your ski waist, they'll catch easier on landings, especially switch or sideways. you might want to buy some skinnier brakes if that's a problem, and keep that in mind for your next bindings.

anyway good luck with your bindings.

t-wall's derp is a great addition

Thank you guys, gave you all karma!

I'm gonna finish destroying those since the season is going to end soon (it was raining today..) and buy new bindings following your advises for next year.
