I recently shot a video with my buddy Sam Krepps from Manhouse.tv

We shot with the FS100 and T3i.

Leah Burkey is a 14year old country singer from York, PA. The actors weren't chosen by us as the age of them should've been older. The script of the acting was written and created by Leah. She has some talent!

That video seemed really weird to me haha it had nothing to do with the filming or editing but the song and the age of the actors and the fact the 14yo singer looked at least 19 and she was dreaming about some kid who looked 12 really threw it off for me.

On some of the filming, alot of the shoots seemed too wide. Way too much empty space around the subject, some more people around or things on the wall might have helped. Also, it looks super digital, like handycam, but without some significant tweaking of setting that can be tough to fix. Was it shot in 24? that might help make it looks better IMO

Shot with the sigma 17-35mm. I used the 17 range a lot due to it was super tight spacing and it was on my blackbird for 99% of the shoot. After the shoot, I told them if they want her to be bigger, they need to cast for the age of what's going on. Her friends won't cut it anymore. It also didn't help that the whole place was pure yellow essentially.

It was shot in 60p which was mainly my fault. Will definitely be in 24 for 90% of the shots next time.

She should probably not sing a song about sex and guys for the next video, just saying haha tell her to sing taylor swift or miley cyrus, watching her sing lady gaga is too weird haha

she's 14? that's bullshit.

idk what it was but the video didn't seem to engaging. I'm pretty opinionated as far as music videos go though so take that with a grain of salt. Like heath said the shots should've been more close up, I also think it woulda been nice if you could've had more control over the lighting.

Hahahah. I can completely agree. It was awkward at first meeting her.

The more I watch it, the more I wish it would've been in 24p. That will be changed for next time, which will be happening shortly.

I honestly think the location had a lot to do with it. The inside of the custard shop was pure yellow the whole way around with fluorescent lighting. We had two tota lights that helped a bit. The shots outside seemed to work way better.

I feel like it was difficult to shoot in a pure yellow room, with pale white kids.

re export it in 24p. It wont look identical but it will help a bit and make it less digital.

Very simple, no more kids, tighter shots, better locations. Oh and I hated the magic bullet looks preset. It stands out when its too obvious and it cuts from a normal shot.
