Hey all! I figure some of you may know some good music forums so I don't have to clog up newschoolers! Thanks in advance!

ok, first they are threads, and second, wouldn't making this thread take up the same amount of space as a thread about music?

what kind of music? M&A has lots of threads for pretty much any genre, you just have to look pretty deep

I am not looking to talk about genres I am looking to find people with knowledge about guitar because I am looking into effects processing through the computer and synth noises

They don't need to know about guitar to help you. A sound effect will do the same thing to a piano sound, or a vocal sound, or a guitar sound. Its universal.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? I do know a few places where you can learn this stuff, but I don't want to point you in the wrong direction.

I am looking into doing stuff like Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead like creating patches in computer software and running my guitar through that and then cool pedals to create synth noises

I just googled "guitar forum" and it gave me a few. USE GOOGLE!

I know that ultimate-guitar is popular, but there are a lot of idiots on there too. There are other good ones I know, but they are geared more towards metal guitarists/ERG players.

Yes I have used google but I haven't found many useful resources so I thought someone here might possibly know of something better

Ultimate guitar has good places in it that arent filled woth complete douche bags. I havent been on in a while but im sure you could fina a thread to help you with what you need on there!

You'll probably want to check out KVRAudio, they have a good forum and you can find some AMAZING free plugins on there, everything from synthesizers to effects. Great websitehttp://www.kvraudio.com/forum/

If you want an in-the-box solution you might want to look into buying logic (assuming you're on a mac), it has pretty much everything you'd need included in the program, and its well suited to recording guitars. You'll also need an audio interface to get the sound from your guitar into your computer. I have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro, its a great little interface that'll last you for a long time.

Anything you can do with software though you can also do with hardware. I'd almost say you're better off just getting some effects modules and putting together cool signal chains. I've done a lot of sound design with software, but its honestly way more fun with hardware. Tactile control over a mouse and screen any day.

Not necessarily I plan to run my signal through a program max/msp where I would be creating patches that would layer over. The complexity I lay down there could not be matched by a pedal...

It might be a bit overwhelming but Max is the program I think that best gives me my results and I am up for a challenge as long as Ican find some tutorials and guides to get where I want

oh sorry I didn't see you wanted a forum for producing music. disregard that, but it's still the best place for getting music!
