Mt. Snow

Looking to possibly make a trip up there second week of February but I saw the mountain is only like 50% open. Any locals know if more stuff is going to open up or what the conditions are looking like?

Looks like the season might change for the better over the next couple of weeks, all depends on how much snow we get from these predicted storms...weather man better be right. But overall if I were to geuss they should be close to 100% if not totally open in 2 weeks fingers crossed

The weather in the northeast has been fucked recently. Keeps getting really warm with a shit ton of rain then it all freezes the next day. I think it should be fine by then though

Mt snow blows. Take your money elsewhere.

Curious why you hate mount snow so much? Only bad thing ive heard is a lot of their rails are short.

January thaw, it's normal. This was actually a pretty mild thaw compared to previous years. Look at the forecast, cold temps and natural snow. Don't forget it is also the first season with their new larger capacity snowmaking system so they should be able to recoup the loss much faster.

yeah their rails are on the shorter side, but i think the amount of them makes up for it though

You mean park wise or mountain wise?

Odds are they came on a really crowded day and wrote it off forever, which is understandable, but it really is a great mountain for SOVT. Great tree stashes, the park is great, if people are really complaining about "short rails" that just shows you how nitpicky people can get. Yes it might take park crew slightly longer to change it up and make variations but that should be expected, larger park = longer maintenance times.

I won't lie though if you DO catch it on a crowded day it can suck. Last weekend the lifts were on wind hold and even after they started opening some up the lift lines were over an hour wait. Days like that I don't enjoy but midweek/sundays it's a barren wasteland. I have been skiing at Mt. Snow since I was like 8 years old. I would bring and teach my kids there if i ever have any that is how much I enjoy the mountain.

Mountain Is run horrible. To the point of unsafe. It is old, underfunded and dated. Their parent company is a joke with a stock price in the toilet. Mt snow is their flagship property and they invest heavy into it but poorly. Their parks are good for the east coast but they are thrown together and poorly thought out. Their lift infrastructure is borderline unsafe and I'm surprised it passes every year.

But hey, if you want to use one of your smaller properties (Jack Frost) to funnel drugs to and from that's okay. But hey, that was only the director of ops at the parent company. And he's owner Daddy's son so that's ok. Drug run away.

I forgot about that drug thing. Im surprised that half the mountains in the US (possibly world) pass lift inspections. Nobody wants to put money into those things, they arnt that important.

So your issue is with Peak not with Snow itself then

No it is both. While Peak is clueless as to how business is ran the trickle down affect is seen at Mt Blow. So they both suck.

Also we can talk about how all their capex projects are funded with EB-5 money. Who in the right mind goes down that path? Besides a company that doesn't have funds that wants to do projects but doesn't or can't get a loan from a normal bank.

Yup. Good stuff there.

And do I have a personal vendetta against mt snow. You bet I do. Will i share that, no. Instead of slander them on my own thoughts I will state public facts on gown bad they are.
