Mt. Hood January

I'm looking to head out to Hood the first and second week of January....

What are the conditions like out there at that time?

- Will there be deep snow, I really want to ski pow!

- Timberline or Meadows for: Park, groomers, pow, steeps?

- Thing to do after skiing all day?

- Anything else I need to know before heading out there?

You stuck on going to hood?

Id suggest going basically anywhere else in the west in january...

My brother lives in Portland so it is a trip to visit him and also a place to stay if I don't end up finding a place close to hood.

Never know what conditions will be like. If it's good and the snow level is low you'll want to check out Ski Bowl for the best terrain and night skiing. If not there is Timberline which has even opened up Palmer in January when we didn't get much snow. Timberline has the best park. Meadows is the biggest permit area on Hood which also includes some very sick terrain. Meadows has a big resort vibe at the base and will get the biggest crowd of any Mt. Hood ski area on weekends. Ski mid-week or at night or be prepared to get a real early start to avoid a traffic jam on the weekends.

Go to meadows, they have really stepped up their parks the last couple of years plus the terrain is a lot better at meadows then at timberline

We typically call January "JUNEUARY" . Often we will get hammered in December. Then the faucet will turn the fuck off until Feb. Just an FYI...The rest has been covered.

I work the ER at Meadows and the park game is pretty sick and sometimes the snow is lacking and we are less windy than T-Line but if you can budget to ski both do it!

-deep maybe watch for Snowmagedin

- Meadows the Park is sponsored and crew's dope, Groomers on point but who skis those? Steeps depends on if Heather Canyon is open which is an inbounds patrolled Canyon that is rad steep and amazing

-Government camp has a sick night life

-$65-70 a day to ski plus $5 (oregon) snow park pass.
