What's the word? Is it open yet? Snowed in? Trying to do some camping there in about a couple weeks on that Spring pass. Thanks, peace!
 
Good to know. If anybody would give me an update after this weekend it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot dude!
 
i drive by it everyday, its still snowed in and the gates are closed. with the warm weather that might change soon. there are also more camp grounds below the snow level check those out.
 
Word. I'm trying to head over in about a week, so I might hit you up around then. I've only camped around Trillium, do you know where the other spots are with a lower elevation?
 
Pretty much just go down any forest service road and look for open spots. You can camp in the timberline parking lot as well, not sure if they are cool with tents but you could absolutely sleep in your car.
 
there are a few camp grounds between rhododendron and govy right off the high way. there are a bunch of numbered roads that take off from the highway, those are pretty good spots as well. Next time i drive by the ranger station in welches i'll ask when trilium is going to open for the summmer

There's definitely still snow there, and it's supposed to snow again this weekend/next week

Yeah weather was really odd all season....... But yeah i just noticed the forecast. Doesn't look fairly well for campers.

You only have to go downhill a little bit to get out of the snow though.
 
Is there a legit airstrip on hood!? We've got a supercub and live in pdx but wanna land on the mtn some time. whats the deal with it? like whats the name, and is it public?

nah its an old airstrip. Its grown over and has trees all over it and shit. Bumpy as shit.

Don't even think about landing there haha. Its at the T in the road on the way to Trillium Lake, directly south of Government Camp

Talked to some kids at Tline yesterday who are staying there. Still snowed in, a lot. BUT it's supposed to be 70's and 80's all week, so there's hope.
 
So I flew over it tonight just to take a look and scope it out... looks like a sweet place but would need some work before landing there. I feel like the forrest service would shit themselves if they saw you cutting anything down though :/

Yeah. I won't say I havent chopped a few trees there... ahaha but it would be sick
