yah so i just got sm3 and watched it a couple a times, and dont get me wrong me wrong, there is some dope ass riding (CR tanner candide and jon mcmurray in particular, oh and the crevasess! holy!!!!) it just seemed to me tho that they dint really change their style from lastr years film at all, there didnt seem to be any progression in their film style. For sure a lot of the riding showed great progression, backcountry tricks and jibbers riding big mountain for example. It just kinda seemed tho that they were happy to have endless big mtn segs with heavy rock song that sounded and were edited like it was 1997. Im not sayin all movies should be the same but it just kinda felt like all of their last movies. Its quite sad cos cr's seg was super cool and really well made, and the crevass section was well fitted in and mcmurrays digtal bits looked cool too. Howeve the rest of the film just seemed a bit old with and the humour was pretty piss poor, i mean the bit with douglas????? hes a sick skier but taht just wasnt funny. Whatever tho, its still a cool movie just seemed a little out a date to me

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you have something good that works, why change it?

Don't judge MSP's 'style' and lack thereof off of one movie. They may have simply felt that style best fitted that movie.

movies a personal i guess, every one has there owne taste... i liked it just didnt like the ending

hmmm.... i thought it was a good movie style, not anything groundbreaking but still, great work on it. the douglas thing i didn't find to funny... like i was chuckling to myself, but it wasn't like 'AHAHAHAHAHA OMG THATS SO TRUE!!!!'

i understand the argument if it aint broke dont fix it, but ive seen all msp's vids goin back to global stormin and what im saying is, essentially thet all look and sound pretty similar. If a skier had been throwin the same tricks and in the same way as he did in like 1998, many people would slate them for not progressing or caring about style. Im not sayin ski movies should copy snowboard vids but if u watch like true life or vivd or something it seems a lot more modern and stylish thats all. I dont think the front line's a bad movie at all but it just seemed like a contiuation of high society, which i guess is maybye kinda the point, perhaps i should just shut up.

i thought it was the best this year with the future of big mountain really being portrayed. TGR talked about 'the fusion' but I think MSP captured that with Pollard, Morrison, Holmes, and others. They definitely have their own style but you don't go out and change your style for a few. If you didn't realize it MSP sold more videos and grossed more than Warren Miller this year, dethroning old Warren. I say keep it up.

 
exactly, MSP quility and style is so far ahead than everyone else, i could wathc Seths segment over and over again

i found ski movie 2 to be boring during the half hour of big mountain right in a row. It was pretty sweet stuff but watching 3 guys turn a couple times gets old after awhile.

skier10332 u obviously havn't seen salad days. Msp's stuff looks good, true it wasn't anything super ground breaking but it is still a very well made movie.

true watching a full msp video without fast forwarding through wendy fishcers segment is real boring but thats what great about the movie. I can sit watch my favorite segments be so stoked to ride and kill it all day. plus the segments each got so much god damn footage you never really get bored of them and if you do, another segment will soon pop up as being your favorite. I find that when I watch happy dayz and sm3. although ski movie 3 is alot longer. in the end it is a really good movie. and each year I highly anticipate watching what new shit they got. they also got the best shots out of any movie and the majority of the pics in this years annual powder photo issue are msp photographers. they are way ahead of the game.

I wasn't that impressed with the flick, but I did appreciate the part with Douglas needing a new image!

I've seen a majority of the films this year and it is my least favorite.

 
yo wannabe soon to have an out of date name, i wasnt contradicting myself, i think a lot of the riding is pretty progressive like Cr, tanner, pollard etc, but it semms like brad holmes segs for example in the last three vids have been short and unfunny and not had much actual riding. I guess what im really saying is that companies like pbp and level one etc, have kinda moved on and got a newer image while msp are still kinda kickin the old school ski movie vibe with the narration and shit. It's not necessarily a bad thing just an oibservation

MSP's big mountain does get a bit boring... especially wendy fisher's segment, but personally i hated Cr's fucked up editing, he tryed to make it like a music video... and it was too distracting and you couldn't see the footage. But Candide's binding cam was pretty damn progressive if you ask me.... and Dizouglass straight outa da lui kang klan was hella funny... so was vinnie

seth's segment along with candide's were pretty damn sick but the angle they shot at on candides air over the massive hip were pretty shitty compared to PBP.

 
I thought Ski Movie 3 was sick, the only segment I don't like is the Collins. Douglas has a sick part, so do pep and tanner, and some other guys, in fact I was just watching it and thinking that I like it alot. The only bad part was that they didn't have Kreitler this year, so I bought The Prophecy and it is sooooo sick, Andy Woods has a good segment, Will Burkes is insane in it and Travis Rice had a good segment, so did a bunch of others.
