MSP got the idea for their new trailer from "Restless"

Yeah I'm sure MSP watched that WSI video and said "HEY thats a GREAT idea! lets copy them!"

Not like MSP claimed their 2 year project before that video came out? you ever think maybe MSP had the idea too and they both did it?

I didn't mean it a negative way at all. The Alan Watts vibe is very cinematic and works really well in both occasions. I'm excited for DOMY to come out, it looks incredible. I'm just saying I think they got the idea from the Restless short

Maybe they got some inspiration for the trailer (and remember the teaser a few months ago) from the opening sequence of restless, but definitely not the whole movie.

doesnt matter because that trailer was unoriginal and boring...just like every product msp has made since focused.

You've clearly not seen this

Restless came out over 6 months before the trailer for MSP's new movie dropped. And no part of you thinks it's possible they stole it?

Yep, OP I noticed the similarity too, I have seen several other videos in this style though so I am not sure if anyone is actually copying anything else. Regardless I don't really love the style although sometimes people can pull it off. I feel like it can be a little bit like using SAIL or Radioactive, some people (mostly non skiers) love it. It sometimes feels a little overly dramatic to me though.

The idea of using Alan Watts was not stolen. MSP decided to build a movie around Alan Watts' philosophical lectures and got in touch with Alan Watts' son to secure rights. Only after the idea was fully developed did anyone at MSP hear about Restless. Then we saw another ski edit using Alan Watts, too. We were pretty bummed, actually. We had to ask ourselves, 'Do you abort the whole foundation of your movie because it's been done before and was seen by a very select audience, or do you at some point accept that just about everything has already been done in the action sports industry and roll with your initial plan?' After a little debate, we decided to carry on, sucking up the fact that 1-2% of our audience will have seen these other edits and say exactly what's in your thread title.

Allan Watts is some TOK shit.Tok is such bullshit but so fun to just go deeper into nothing and coming out with somethin completely unrelated but makes some sense. weeeeeeehat

This film seems like an attempt to capture a vibe and intrinsic feeling that is not really a part of anything I see in the MSP crew or athletes. Days of Our Youth? The whole production crew is in their 40s and beyond- MSP athletes perennially are on the older end of the ski industry, how the fuck are they making a movie about youth? MSP always attempts to add some young guns to their movie, but it ends up being some lame park shoot where they bring out Bobby, Gus or whoever is the newest hucker on the scene- all comes across as phony to me. Beyond that, I don't see many of these athletes being actual friends- beyond filming for a company that their sponsors are paying-none of these guys would be skiing together if there weren't cameras around. You want to see what it really is like for a group of friends to chase the ski dream and living it up in "the days of their youth" go watch All Damn Day or Mutiny. MSP's film is just a high budget attempt at capturing that notion.

Hmm. When I saw the title I thought it sounded like some old legends looking back at the days of their youth, almost nostalgically, I wonder which MSP was going for?
