MSP Drop Everything Teaser

MSP just dropped their new teaser. Thoughts? I think it has potential, the teaser definitely had an interesting take on it. Different from the their last few movies.

As long as they don't go over the top and make it similar to CLAIM, it should be OK.

I wasn't a fan of last years so I've lowered my expectations for this year.

Me too. It looked like some McConkey's and some shots of the Palisades. I love inbounds Squaw footage, although if they got early ups on a pow day the locals probably were not too stoked.

That was some sick skiing, particularly in the tricks off cliffs arena.

Loved it. Haven't been super impressed by MSP films recently, but since some of my favorite parts (apart from most of the skiing) were always just Cody joking around I'm looking forward to more of that.

I almost turned it off the second I heard the voice over, glad I didn't. They got me.

Meh squaw has always done that. Closing off palisades for pros etc is nothing new. Sucks. Meh, one or two tracks on the gnarly lines doesn't affect the majority of them all too much, and not many people hit most of the lines that are worth filming. IMO.

The only thing I've ever had a problem with is the private chimney sessions. Those are bullshit.

Oh and to chime in on the movie....it has to be better than the last few, and I am super stoked to see so much tahoe in their. I'm glad they are accepting what was wrong with their last few movies and are able to poke fun at them.

The sand comment actually made me laugh out loud hahaha

Yeah, they did that when I lived there, I just was not sure if they still did. On one hand I get it, I love the inbounds footage, I just hope things don't get too tracked out for the locals, which they usually don't as you said. I'm testy about this issue because many years ago, back in 2002 I believe, when I lived in Tahoe and skied Squaw every day I got hosed out of a May sades session. It was a good winter, probably got about 400 inches, and spring had been fun. Most of the lifts were closed so I usually hiked Granite Peak 4-5 times, skiing direct chute in fun slush, then hit the Corkscrew area a few times. After that it was either off to work or to the hot tub at High Camp. That was my day to day deal and I was loving it, and looking forward to a Memorial Day vegas trip with my college buddies. A couple of days before Memorial Day a storm rolled in. It bonded up well, the temperature gradually cooling so that it was not an 18 inches of light on top of frozen railroad tracks situation. It cleared on Thursday, so I was pumped for some pow turns before leaving that night and driving half way down to vegas, I always did it that way because the 95 goes through the desert and 8 hours of that would have sucked, breaking up the drive made sense. I arrived to see tracks in the Palisades, a film crew had hit it. No biggie, I hiked Granite a couple of times, hitting a couple of patrol chute straightlines and then a couple of direct chute laps. On the direct chute laps I went out to VIP's which were nicely filled in. It was great because most people were done for the year so it did not get tracked out as quickly as usual. By that point I figured the Palisades would be open and I could get in a couple of Tube Chute straightlines, but no. They just left them closed even though the film crew was long done. That really pissed me off, they should have at least let us hit them up when filming was done.

apparently scott gaffney directed it, which is very good news. I'm actually excited to see this one, which I haven't been able to say about a matchstick movie in 10 years

They do this a lot. Makes me real mad. They often open up the rest of palisades but not chimney. They leave that for basically only private use. Super lame.

Also they didn't open mainline pocket for pretty much the entire season. Last time I remember it open was december....and It didn't open at all that I know of since then. Absolutely ridiculous. I was stoked to get sendy over there.

Oh yeah....thats why I am so freaking excited about this movie. He is a legend

Was so happy Colby narrated that haha. It looks epic, last years movie blew something large so there's no way it can be worse than that

Well it was mostly buried in snow.. but yeah it was a shame.

Yeah most of the bucks were buried...byt once they came out if the snow again they still didn't open. Shame.

KSL being cheap and lazy. Don't want to pay to have avy control done on it. Dicks

I fucking hate KSL. What sucks is that andy wirth isn't the only fucktard there. There's so many asshats running around squaw.

There is also a good amount of good people too that I need to mention.

They are cancer. Destroying squaw one step at a time. Andy wirth can kiss my ass.

yeah i was thinking the rocks there were probably buried but still...

but wouldnt they have to do avy work there regardless? it's top dead center of the resort and empties onto gaper land

You would think so but I never saw any blast holes or patrol inspecting. There were a couple slides there too. There is a good amount of space between the steep section and gold coast.

Sorry to be that guy...but there was just one girl in the last movie, right?

....so it should be 200% more women???

Doesn't matter, still stoked stoke for it!!

Skiing needs more comedy like this in its film industry.

I was thinking the same thing. Not a fan of the voiceover personally. Could end up to be a good film this time. MSP hasn't had a good film in a few years IMO, hope this one is decent.

But. But. But. It's Colby James West! How could you not be a fan!?!?

It took me a while to realize this.

Maybe it was the workday daze, or I'm just dumb

No worries. I'm not a math guy; I'm a sabermetrics guy.

I'm probably the one person on this site who gets this. Bill James might not approve of your math skills.

i just wrinkled my face in confusion and moved on haha. isnt sabermetrics the analysis of baseball players/stats, and bill james the leader of that activity to some extent? might want basic math skills for that stuff haha

No early ups. Just everyday access (the director doesn't have the best relationship with the corporate powers).

Oh look, MSP doing the same shit they've always done. This is why most legit skiers release their own films because they don't have to worry about jackasses chopping up their footage into crap. But hey who doesn't love a trailer with the same repeated theme and .2 second long clips of skiing?

Dude how are you a director? I'm soooo much better than directing than you

The fact that the idiot corporate powers don't realize the staggering amount the director has done for Squaw Valley is insane. That is absolutely ridiculous. Squallywood and 1999 are the greatest pieces of advertising Squaw has ever had.
