That was pretty interesting. Did anyone else notice that the intro music was from Candide Kamera?

I'm really surprised this only got 3 bites all afternoon. Sure a 17 minute ted talk might not seem like something you want to watch, but for the most part you can just but it on instead of whatever music you're listening to. Elyse's talk is about the Steven's pass avalache and he talks about what went on in her head during the avalanche. It's really worth a listen.

TL;DR: Turn off whatever music you're listening to, press play and keep doing whatever else you're doing.

Unfortunately a majority of NS hasn't seemed to quite grasped the interest of things like this. Might mean they actually learn something about safety in the backcountry etc.

This was a great listen, and I can definitely relate to the points she brought up.

Have to say, I love the way Elyse skis. Instead of finding ways around the biggest cliffs in a line, she charges through everything and makes her way towards the largest drop, and stomps it! It's great to watch, and I wish more people skied like her.

This. I liked what she had to say, but it sounded somewhat forced/rehearsed at times.

Regardless, it was interesting to hear her description of the avalanche. Her strategy of managing irrational fear felt pretty trivial and cliche, but for a non-ski audience I suppose it was appropriate.

It did seem like she probably dumbed it down a little bit for the audience she was presenting to, which was probs necessary but over all I really enjoyed it. It's pretty neat to see someone still shredding so hard after something so traumatic happened. Also cool to hear professional athletes talk about overcoming fear, something they really don't seem to have and isn't really talked about all too often. She stomps so hard.
