Mr. Robot

I figured I would start a thread on this. If you haven't started watching it, I highly recommend it.

Spoilers Below

Anyone else think last nights episode was incredible? The drug hallucination scenes has me second guessing everything I thought I had figured out about Mr. Robot being real.

Definitely the best show on TV. I missed the first like ten minutes last night so I started at the beginning of his hallucinations. That scene was great but I didn't understand it because I missed the beginning. I'm assuming he overdosed? I guess I'll watch a rerun when it comes out.

Withdrawal is what brought about the hallucinations.

It certainly is my favorite show on TV right now, I just hope they keep up with the hacker-vigilante part and keep the relationship BS to the minimum unless it is integral to the plot

Three episodes in, and so far it's fucking amazing :D

Didn't have any expectations for it when i started watching, but after the first 10 minutes i was hooked like a junkie on smack.

So you still want to ask; "Is it really that good?"

This show is so fuckin weird. Can't quite figure out of I want to keep watching or not. But I will keep watching. Still think Mr. Robot isn't real. Especially after Elliot wakes up from his hallucinations and hes alone, then out of the darkness comes Mr. Robot saying that he will never leave. The drugs brought the hallucinations out, he was rid of them, but then couldn't handle it alone so they came back.

Never heard of the show until this thread (probably because I don't watch much TV). Turned on the first episode on Hulu this morning and watched about half of it, it's awesome so far!

definitely plan on watching it for the season. hard to tell what's real and what isn't, but that's part of what keeps it entertaining.

The elephant: I occasionally cringe at the tech-speak, but in general the computer-side is really well done. Yeah it's glossed up with nice graphics from time to time, but it's about as close to real computer hacking as you could possibly get while still being understandable.

But fuck that. That's just a technicality.

Does anyone else think that Elliot's voice sounds almost exactly like Walt Jr?

Really enjoying the show so far. Cba to write a whole fucking essay on it but it's developing it's themes (power, control) really well and the characters are fantastic. The whole inner dialogue is really well done. The fight club conspiracy seems true but I'd like to think we're being misled. I've seen other theories along these lines that hold weight. Surely the developers wouldn't pretty much outright copy virtually the whole plot?

I heard they have an ending planned in 4-5 seasons. It's awesome to know they're not planning on turning this into Dexter II.

Meh, I'm just stoked for the next episode. I got really fucking excited at the beginning of the last one because I was well up for a heist, but it let me down in that respect (but not in many others).

Bump.

Stoked for the next episode. I'm really curious to see what is going to happen now that Elliot opened up to his shrink, and who this white rose character is.

Do you guys think that this could be like a modern fight club? Where he's just hacking away on his own and everything else is just in his mind? That he alone is fsociety?

Maybe not, but kinda mind blowing to think about.

I just started watching tonight and immediately got the Fight Club vibe.

Everyone thinks this, then forgets it after a few episodes when they realise this has much more to it than fight club. The story, side characters, premise and narration are all massively superior in Mr Robot than in Fight Club. The main characters are also better than in fight club.

Relatively-vague-so-hopefully-spoiler-free thoughts on the two most recent episodes below:

Also that episode with the Prison Break was so fucking intense. Seriously, it was Breaking Bad s5 kinda intensity. The last shot as well, where the camera stays with Elliot for well over a minute, was incredible. It gave me false hope, then took it away. Got me seriously stoked for the next episode. When it came, I felt slightly let down at first. It was slower, of course it had to be, yet it felt like it lacked focus. Second watch through I picked up on far more detail, still never got all to excited about it but I'm still stoked for tonights episode!

I'm not trying to necessarily compare the two, but from what I've seen so far, the interaction between Elliot and Mr. Robot (Slater) are definitely similar. My prediction is that over time this will change and we'll see evidence that he's a real dude and not just part of Elliot's psyche

Oh yeah it is. At this point the biggest surprise will be if he is real. But at the same time I think the show is too smart for that, and there's something it's keeping silent on. The latest episode sees robot out on his own, and the episode is elliot-light. The one before, elliot goes downstairs and when he returns robot is sitting on the stairs.

I would be surprised and impressed if there is a decent plot twist that involves him being real, but at the same time I really don't care. Tyrell, Angela, Shayla (sobs), Darlene, eHeath and token-black-guy are all such good supporting characters it really doesn't matter if one has a rather predictable twist.

i watched the first couple of episodes but i just never caught interest. suits is hands down my favorite show on usa because burn notice got scrapped

Damn. I just watched that episode and I don't know what to think, but after I finished I just sat there for twenty solid minutes, thinking about nothing about the final act.

I always agreed with the fight club conspiracy, but had an idea the show might be cleverer than that. Holy fuck is it.

I know most people are still catching up, because apparently the 'one episode a week' thing is something people struggle with in the netflix era, so I won't discuss the specifics but that was a damn good plot twist.

I'll readily admit though that some parts of it need some solid rationaling. That photo? How could he not have noticed... Let's all chalk it down to mental illness.

Some thoughts:

Gideon knows.

That fork was way to obvious, Tyrell is going down or the NYPD seriously need to prescribe eye tests.

I had a feeling about Mr. Robot ever since episode 2 or 3, but holy shit that other plot twist really came out of nowhere.

So many calls to fight club. In the last episode the piano song at the end was Pixies - where it's my mind. The same song that played at the end of fight club when all the buildings are blowing up.

Finally caught up and looking forward to the finale.
