Moving to Whis

So I'm moving to Whis mid November and I was wondering how hard it will be to find a job and accommodation (I'll be staying till august). I'm out of Country from May - beginning of November so I won't be able to apply for a job before I move up, but I have some couches to crash on till I find housing. What types of jobs would also be good and fairly easy to get, that will allow me to ski almost everyday. I have only labour job experience at the moment, but would like to get a job in a restaurant (might be too competitive) or something non-labour. Thanks!

For sure, ski school at least does interviews on skype. And I know they do job fairs in Australia, if your one of the many coming from there.

wait, you live in white rock. You could just drive to whis for an interview and potentially find a place,so not all hope is lost for you.

I'm actually in Halifax right now, and then will be in Asia till first week of november. I'll try my luck at getting a job when I'm back in BC. Thanks for the advice, man.

This October/November was a total s*%t show trying to find accommodation. Its good you have some couches to crash on. Finding a job was certainly easier than finding accommodation but in November it will be pretty competitive for jobs also as a lot of people will be arriving in town.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding a job, there always seems to be some advertised in the local paper. Check out here for some tips:http://www.whistlerseasonaires.com/2013/06/ultimate-whistler-jobs-guide/

Jobs that will allow you most time on the mountain would be Kitchen Steward, Night Houseman, Night Cleaner, Night Audit .... anything that starts with night ;)

yea for finding a house you'd want to start looking a while before november, but if you want to get a job in a restaurant december is possibly the easiest time of year to get hired. November is still dead season so they don't need the extra employees, but christmas is busy as fuck obviously, so the need to get some staff in a week or two before to get them trained up.
