I know this belongs in regionals but its always dead so bear with me. I'm moving to Klamath Falls in Southern Oregon to go to the Oregon Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in land surveying. Anybody from the area or know the area. What's the skiing like? I know bachelor is a couple hours away but there are a few resorts closer but they seem pretty washy and don't have very good tree skiing. Just looking for some other peoples thoughts.

Sadly i havent been to many places south of bend for skiing. Maybe OregonDead will have some info on that. I have been to hood and regularly ski Bachelor and can say they are both amazing mountains. Bachy has sooo much skiable terrain and enough trails and woods to keep you coming back for years.

Also if you're looking for a job, I think Hutches Bikes in K Falls is hiring I believe. Great industry deals for both skiing and biking (mainly outerwear and gear for skis). I work at a location over here in Bend.

Thanks man. Growing up my family would take a yearly pilgrammage to bachelor and I know how sick it is. The commute is a couple hours from klamath which isn't bad seeing how this year I was driving 3 hours to tahoe. The program at the oregon institute of technology is too good to pass up and will help me out in a career for land surveying. If it wasnt for that I'd defitently be looking at other spots but gotta make that money.

I haven't had the chance to explore the skiing in S. Oregon yet/

Looks like Mt. Ashland is the closest lift served to K Falls. Google says it's about and hour and 45 min. Warner canyon is about 2 hours the other direction. I haven't been to either but both sound like they are super fun if the conditions are right. Both are on my bucket list since I want to ski all the lift served areas in Oregon.

If you tour it looks like there are a lot of less traveled backcountry options.

Bachelor is further but they have higher terrain so it's a pretty sure bet they'll have a pretty long season. The lower areas don't even open every year but they are good when they do.
