Moving to snowbird/alta questions

So I'm planning on moving to snowbird/alta this fall (around early november) and hoping to get a job with the resort for the pass/discounts and shit. So that's the general plan but I was wondering what people think is the best area to apartment shop in? I'm looking in Cottonwoods and Sandy, but is that even somewhat inconvenient?

My other question is concerning the bars/restaurants at the two resorts/slc. I have quite a bit of bartending experience and was hoping to rake in some extra cash doing that, and I was curious if anyone has any insight into the bars and nightlife around the resorts/nearby/slc? Im planning a trip out in september or november to scout out the area but any insight would be super clutch/+++++ karma. Thanks guys

If you're looking for apartments check out the West Valley City area from around 600 North to 3500 South in between Redwood Road and I-15. The Glendale and Rose Park neighborhoods are very nice and also exciting around nighttime.

Hahaha. Yes thats deffinetly the spot to look. Pretty much the only way to live in little cottonwood is too get a job that offers employee housing. Both snowbird and alta offer this. There are a couple bars in little the Pdog, Goldminers, Tram club, ect ect, although I would assume itd be a hard job to take over seeing theres generations of local booze hounds waiting to get that job. But it could never hurt trying. If you choose to live in the valley I would first go for Cottonwood Heights if not go for Sandy.

The bartending jobs at the Peruvian, Rustler, and GMD have been filled for the season, which makes me think the Sitz also filled their spots.

Some of the lodges are still hiring for wait-staff, though. And if you get a job at one of the 5 lodges (Snowpine, Rustler, Alta Lodge, GMD, Peruvian) you get employee housing/pass. Some lodges have emp housing in the valley, too. My lodge has a duples on Wasatch and a house off of Bengal, 14 beds total, plus abother 50 up canyon.

You should also look into working for the Deep Powder House. They're hiring right now and can put you up in emp housing down by the Smiths on Bengal, in Cottonwood Heights.

Other than that, for sure look at living in CH. There are quite a few bars around that I'm sure are still hiring. ie Porcupine, Liquid Joes (HUGE BEERS FOR THREE BUCKS! EVERYONE GO!), Hogs Wallow, et cetera.

Good luck!

Liquid Joes is 3300 south, around 1250 East. Never been, but drove past it a few times.

And since I feel bad, and this guy is probably clueless of the area, I have to tell him. Those dudes were joking about Rose Park and West Valley. The exciting nightlife involves getting beat up by tongans, and chasing away people trying to steal your car.

Sandy and Cottonwood heights are the only way to go. Olympus Cove would even be decent and maybe cheaper, but it's a smaller area and just one neighborhood really.

I would really work a shitty job, just for the employee housing up the canyon. When the canyon is closed you still get to shred... best day of your life.

Good luck.
