Moving to Reno!

I just took a Job in the Reno area for when I graduate in June and I’m so pumped. I can’t wait to ski Tahoe and Mammoth. Ohio was ok to me for 21 years, but I got to get into the mountains.

I did have a couple questions about climbing and mountain biking in the Reno area though. Is there any good trails, faces, walls, boulders close Reno? I know Tahoe has all of the mountain activities, but what about closer to town?
 
There are mtb trails on Peavine mtn north of downtown, also some trails south off Mt Rose highway and Geiger grade. As for close stuff to climb... don't know about anything down here except some cliffs on the other side of the Truckee River going I80 west towards Truckee.
 
Just got back from Reno on an apartment looking trip/ski trip. Can't believe I am going to be living there. Reno is so close to the mountains and there is SO much snow in Tahoe. Why the hell was I considering Denver? Supper Stoked. End.
