Moving to Novi/Walled Lake area...

Im moving/moved to the north Novi/Walled Lake area. I was wondering who lives around there. I am always down to share rides.

What is the best shop in the area?

Isnt there a season pass for a lot of the hills in that area?

What is there to do in the summer? Best mountain biking? Long road bike paths?

I'm living in farmington hills, but only until August 15th. Wet n wild is right on walled lake, I did fly boarding last weekend (look for deals on groupon). It was so much fun. Otherwise I've been going to the driving range (Oasis Golf?), or just going to the gym (I like fitness 19, good rates for training, which was good to help me transition from PT to lifting). I plan on going to a gun range this weekend, and a Tigers game tomorrow. Maybe kayaking in Ann Arbor this weekend too. It's a nice river, seen some people do float trips (inner tubes and beer), or you can rent kayaks. Last thing, if you like sushi, check out Ajishin. I didn't understand half the menu, but the meals (non sushi) are awesome. The sushi is really fresh, awesome, and cheap. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just moving out of the area, but Ive lived here for about 10 years now. Lots of good trail riding around, check out highland state rec and island lake state rec for mountain biking, depending on whether you like technical (highland) or fast smooth trails (island lake). There are also a lot of areas around that are very bike friendly. Walled lake has a special bike lane almost all the way around it, and rails to trails are becoming pretty big around here. Check out the bike path that runs from Milford to Brighton through kensington metro park also.

I worked at Nichol's ski and snowboard in waterford for 2 seasons, expert boot fitting, usually not a ton of options in stock unfortunately. Check out them and also Boyne country sports at Novi road and 12 mile.

Make friends with people on lakes. That is really just about all there is to do around here in the summer. the fishing is good, and the wake boarding can be perfect on weekdays.

As far as ski hills Mt. Brighton is going to be your best bet. They put up a really fun park last year and i was out just about every other day.

Try coney island food, and watch out for the cops in novi, they will be assholes. The area can be a lot of fun, and make sure you make it downtown as well, lots of cool restaurants and parks in the D.

Are the lakes public? I live maybe 1/4 mile down 14 mile from walled lake, so if they arent, maybe my community has access to it. My girlfriend and I like to paddle board and it seems like a nice place to do it.

Is the bar on the lake nice (bayside I think). What about The Public House over by Meijer.

Places to avoid?

HA! I used to live right in that area! great area for paddling and activities. Walled Lake has a public beach that you can paddle from, that's about the only lake in the area. Commerce Lake and Wolverine Lake are "private". Pretty good mtn bike trails in the area for the location.

I worked at Boyne Country Sports in Novi, cool ski shop with an awesome staff and a tons of knowledge if youre looking for a shop in the winter. Tell them I sent you. Get a pass to Alpine or Brighton and most definitely Mt. Bohemia.

Bayside is a sweet bar, but there are others. "The Pallete" in Milford is pretty cool, tons of microbrews on tap.Al's Copper Mug is a good place to get rowdy. Orchard Lake Rd has a lot to offer for nightlife... but it's almost always filled with people looking for confrontation.

I'll be down from Marquette August 10-25 if you want to chill or ride bikes

Also Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum

A few guys at work just told me about this. It sounds like a really cool place. Think I might check it out later this week.

Is this play like an awesome old school arcade?

just a collection of old arcade games and oddities. It's pretty neat.

Eat at Rojo's in Novi, sweet classy Mexican place, not too expensive. I always make sure to eat there at least once when I'm down.

Also Leo's Coney Island

Anyone here have a medical card? I read what I believe is the most recent amendment and it seems it's kind of a pain to get and keep one unless you have a doctor who is cool about it. Anyone have any experience with it? I do qualify with the vague "chronic pain" symptoms. I visit a doctor multiple times a year for a nagging shoulder pain from lacrosse in high school. I think I only need to go twice in a year to qualify for that. But, I truly do have chronic pain.

I had one for "chronic backpain" for about 2 years. There are "doctors" everywhere that can right you one for $100. Go herehttp://overthemoonclinic.com/ its right in downtown Walled Lake and super easy to work with, its where I got mine when when I was still doing that. Bazonzoes is a good dispensary downtown too. Good Luck

Meh, I would have agreed with you a few years ago, but BCS in Novi is on point.

That's the only BCS I'd go too though.
