Moving to Geneva from US

My friend and I both US citizens are looking to move to geneva for 6 months starting in January. My buddy is exchanging abroad at HEAD Geneva and I am working. Just looking for any general information about living in Geneva, getting to the mountains, best pass to get, etc. Also if anyone needs two roomates or knows of a good place to live in geneva that would be rad! Cheers

Hey man, welcome to Switzerland!

I ski in the 4 valleys, which is near enough to make a day trip to. Drive to la chable, take the cable car to ski in verbier, come back at 4:00 when the lifts close and be back home by 5:30. Only thing about it is that the pass is quite expensive.

since we will be living in Geneva what pass would you recommend? we are also looking to do quite a bit of off-piste/backcountry skiing as well!

do you have your working situation sorted out yet? permits for switzerland can be a pain, especially if they're short term and you're american because the US doesn't really have a reciprocal short term work exchange program with switzerland

i'd recommend checking out englishforum.ch there's a lot of good info there on stuff in switzerland

my understanding is geneva is a little more difficult for resort access given that a lot of the resorts are in france which makes public transit to them not as good as in CH, best off just buying a car i think
